Squidoo Question Regarding Amazon Commissions Rates

Since Squidoo probably is at the highest rate of commissions for Amazon, can I assume that if I sell something thru my lens that it will be at the maximum commission rate of 8%? Therefore, I get half of that 8% and Squidoo gets the other half, right?

In other words, I get the same commission as I would get if I put Amazon affiliate links on my own site, right?

  • Inject your own Amazon affiliate links and you walk away with 100%

Remember, you are only sharing revenue on Squidoo's own internal modules/their own hosted ads, which are pooled into a tiered payment payout.

Granted, there is rather large indication that IF you make a sale through a Squidoo module, because it inherently helps the site itself, you should also see an increase in your lensrank. Of course, in the longterm, the lensrank isn't really important. It's essentially just a way to incentivize people to keep returning and updating content.

    • Do you know if the GROSS commissions that Amazon pays Squidoo is at the maximum, as it should be given the volume of sales that Squidoo must give to Amazon?

  • Definitely a good amount to be made on Squidoo through Amazon. I have over 200 lenses and do very well with it.
  • The maximum rate for Amazon is 8.25%, which Squidoo probably gets. So, you'll probably receive slightly more than 4%. However, some types of items get lower commission rates (4% for Electronics) while some get more (10% for digital downloads), and you get half of that.

If you can sell 7 or more items per month, then you will earn 6% - significantly more than you'd get via Squidoo. The more items you sell, the more you earn.
