help! quick question about Aweber

so im creating an email list and im trying to attach a PDF file but it tells me that it has to be under 1.0mb. my file is 7.98mb. isnt there something I can do about this?

I already attached files well over 1.0MB in my mail before but I dont see why you can do it with your email list.

Aweber restricts the file size of attachments because some Internet providers restrict the size of the messages they can receive. Plus, there are some people who are still using dial-up... imagine having to download an 8MB attachment with that. Yikes.

I'm wondering why your PDF is 8MB in the first place. Unless it has a LOT of pictures, there's really not much reason for that. You may have one or two images that are ridiculously high-res that are inflating the file size. I would look into a PDF compressor utility to shrink the file size. Your subscribers will thank you for it (well, some of them might).

A more techie way would be host it on AmazonS3 via EzS3 and placing link inside the email

Or just host it on your own site.

Wherever you host it, zip it up if it's 8Mb... your subscribers will be much happier with a shorter download vs not zipping it.

Link to it in your email from aweber.

        Hope it helps!

Even with a fair number of pictures, you should be able to get it down to under 1MB without sacrificing too much quality. If you like, PM me for my e-mail and I'll run the file through Adobe Acrobat Pro and try to compress it down.

Just compress it to whatever size it will shrink to.

Upload it to your web site.

Put a link to it in your email that you send out via aweber.

BETTER YET - put up a page, just for the download. Send them the link to the page. On that page, you'll have a link to download it.

If you really, really want to attach it for some reason, try reducing the size of the original - resize images, remove them, etc. and see if that helps.

Personally, I PREFER to have a download link.

Think about it - if you send an attachment, you're touching the list once. You also introduce the possibility that the attachment is blocked by their spam filter for some reason.

If you send them to a download page, you get to put other info on that page for them to see, including related offers, your other products, affiliate stuff, your personal greeting, a picture of you to connect with them more, etc.

Which one sounds more engaging to you? An email attachment, or a download page with a friendly smile and greeting?

Naa, zipping a PDF isn't going to achieve much, especially if the bulk of the size is due to pictures - jpegs don't compress down further for some reason . I vote for a download link too. I was going to distribute a Wordpress plugin of mine directly as an attachment via aWeber to new signups, but I just prefer a permanent (protected) download page that the user can go to even if they lose the mail or whatever, and I find sending large attachments kind of rude, unless expressly agreed on.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise
