Internet Marketing: Feel Like Giving Up?

Feel Like Giving Up??

Getting started in internet marketing we'll typically face lots of problem. Frustrated, loosing money, feeling hopeless and lonely (no body to support us). But that's normal; successful never happens overnight.

But unfortunately many people quit online business only after trying one or two ways to make money online, if they have not gotten the result they thought they would.

They forgot what successful marketers have learned. Every successful internet marketer knows that everyone will fail. What has made them successful is the ability to keep going in spite of failures.

Actually, failure is something that allows us to find what didn't work and analyze our mistakes; a learning experience for us. Through failure, we can make changes in the future so we'll become more successful. Just learn from our failures and never give up. We do not fail until we give up.

To help us get motivated, check out this video on YouTube:

Search: "I Love Living Life. I Am Happy."

Probably you'll cry while watching this video.

I think what people fail to realize is that in most cases the internet world is just like the brick and mortar world of business.

It takes a lot of businesses 3-5 years to acheive profitability, and sometimes even longer.

The cost of investment is generally a lot lower on the internet, but you have to put in the "sweat equity" of getting your name out there and in front of people.

And, like with all businesses, or human interactions, you want to try your best to provide value for value.

Anyone that thinks they can just throw a website up and start making tons of money will learn soon enough. But, it's not a bad thing, because the best way to learn and grow is to fail your butt off a few times.

The school of hard knocks will give you more than any university.

demotivation through failure is every beginning internet marketers achilles
      heel, but they gotta remember:

If there were no failures, you'd never know your doing something wrong.

I did give up for 6 months once. I then took a good hard look at what I had done in the past, and as most people starting out I brought rubbish product after rubbish product.

I changed my approach and that's when things started changing for me. I've now got plans for a WSO.

Dont put all your eggs in one basket.

Singularity of purpose is great, but not every idea will work out. Keep a few ideas bubbling in the background, so if the big money idea doesnt come through you won't be living on the slagheap.

As for IM, I'd always advise people to keep their day job going too, at least until you are sure you can make a living from it. I've known several friends now who have given up well paying jobs to focus on an IM idea, and they now regret it.

I don't mean to dash any dreams. IM is amazing when it works. Its just that it pays to hedge your bets.

Any business takes a little time to get going. Thing about the internet generation is that everyone expects instant results and it very rarely works out like that.

the big difference I see between those who succeed and those who don't is this:

those who succeed have asked themselves the question: "how do I provide value?" (or have even gone as far as then drawing up a "sales-funnel" where they figure out how to provide value at each stage, so people end up buying (again and again))

those who struggle forever quite often come into this with the mindset of "hey, I want to make some money" (and I'm not even going into the "hey, is $0.01 enough? It's some money, right?". Wanting to make "some" money is just too vague.) -- and they have no idea how to provide value to whom.

As Bernard Baruch said when asked what his secret of success was: "Find out what people want, then show them how to get it".

If you think you did have a good look at what market you're going to serve, let me ask you this question: Would you be willing and able to draw up a business plan in the next 24h and then walk into a bank and ask for a loan to get your "business" started?

If not, maybe you're not quite serious enough about "making it online"...

Don't be giving up, every post I've read here has some excellent advice, I remember when I was starting out I came accross a "quote" by Malcolm Forbes, it has stayed with me to this day. "How To Succeed" "Try Hard Enough".

The Warrior is an excellent place for help, keep opening threads like this for help and the people here will be more than glad to help you move along.

I will never forget a successful marketer that I emailed once. He was building more and more websites that produced ongoing income, and I thought he must be very smart.

Therefore I sent him a few questions regarding what he thought about some very well known marketers and their opinions.

I was extremely surprised to see that he didn't know these people at all! He had very little knowledge, but he was making very good money.

The lesson is: Focus on something that works. Now I'm into building sites as well, and I don't need to watch every video and webinar that arrives in my inbox. What a relief and what a time saver!

Along the same lines, I recently was listening to a podcast by a well-known IM guru, and in the midst of the conversation he said something without giving it any highlight and as if it had no significance. The amazing thing is the impact it could have on most struggling marketers if they learned the lesson in this simple little statement he made....

        The statement??

"9 out of 10 of my niche sites fail, 1 out of 10 make me all of my money."

Doesn't sound important until you know he makes several million dollars per year....

The people who are truly successful are the ones who look at their mistakes as learning experiences, rather than failures. You will succeed if you continue to test and try different things.

That's the big question. Yeah like me I am complete but still living a simple life.

Anyway, Im still happy we have different situations.

That is one powerful video on what it takes to be happy. All you have to do is live it. Then happiness will follow. Take what life gives you and keep moving forward. There is no sense in laying in self pity. Thanks for sharing this.

I think all newbies get to the point of "feeling" like giving up...isn't that why 95% (or whatever #) quit while the other 5% realize that this businesss is a marathon and not a sprint!!! Not helping matters are all the ads you see for making crazy $$$money in some small amount of time.
