HELP! - I think I am in a big trouble

Hey guys,

I bought a website almost 3 weeks ago, I bought it from Godaddy close outs and the site is almost 2.5 years old. after designing the website getting it indexed.. I made 2 comments on a blog... the problem is this blog added me to the most recent comments section which is posted on every page of the site.

I checked how many links I got in yahoo and maaan I saw 1081 links , 99% of them coming from that blog from each page since my site was listed on the most recent or active comments... I dunno what to do.. I know the links will go away once other people start commenting but I am scared google will put me in the sandbox or ban me me since I got more than a 1000 links in less than 3 days and eventually they will disappear so google might think these links where spam and got removed by the admin

I am kind of lost since I invested alot of time on this site and money , wat do u guys think, can u share your opinions or experience?

Thanks

I don't think you need to worry about sitewide links. It's the same with blogs, Google know about them and ignore all but 1 from each site as far as I'm aware.

Well, look at the other sites featured on the comment section. Are they deindexed now?

I'm pretty sure of this. I did some research when a company was wanting to place ads on some of my blogs and found there was no problem.

Thats some good news Pat! so if you don't mind me asking.. if my site is listed on a blogroll then all the links coming from all the pages on the site won't count, it will only count for the main page?

Lazy well the sites that are listed with me have the links still but they are pretty big sites..with high page rank, I am the only small guy between them,, lets wait and see!

Yes only one link will count but the good thing is if your link is on thousands of pages it has more chance of being clicked. Also if they are no follow links the link juice isn't getting passed on so Google definitely wouldn't have a problem with it.

I've only ever had one site disappear into oblivion for a while and it came back stronger than ever with twice as much traffic, so you can always change the link to mine if you are still worried

I think I just got sand boxed! I checked my google webmaster tool and I saw around 3200 links coming in .. so I went and I searched for my domain keyword which I was ranking at number 10 for it... I found my site on page 4...

You didn't get sandboxed, that's if sandboxing exists. It's just your site settling, or it could be what's called the Google dance, as I said before, I had one site totally disappear out of the rankings after it had been 4th for it's main keywords for over a year. By coincidence I had just totally redesigned the site. A few weeks later it came back in 2nd place and has stayed there for 2 years.

If you had been penalised for link building your site would have been deindexed, not just drop down to the 4th page.

Yea I hope so! anyway it is a learning curve I guess, I will learn from it lol , but the funny thing is I always build links and google takes months to pick them up.. and when I wanted them to ignore it , they picked more than yahoo links in 2 days

Links on this forum usually show immediately and that is robably true for other high traffic sites. I think everything people told you is true, but to be extra safe why not balance he site wide links you got out with some non-site-wide ones?

Well the thing is I left 2 comments on 2 posts...and looks like I have been added to the ( top commenters) section which is in each page.. I didn't know I will be added there and also I cannot remove my links since it is a random comment without an account so I have no control over it, eventually these links will go away but that might be a problem too or no.. I am not really experienced with SEO , but once they disappear google might think hmm why did they disappear..all of them..were they spam and got removed? or maybe google knows how things works on blogs as Pat said and they understand the way it is which makes more sense since Pat made a whole study on this and which links counts.

If Google could penalise you for this it would be too easy to sabotage any competitor's sites. I'm guessing they just disregard most of those links and give you some linkjuice for one of them.

Haha. Don't worry. 1000 links is nothing. You're fine.

    I bet it's a shocking experience lol..

But I don't think that would be a problem. Google would need more reason to ban you rather from just a thousand links pointing to your site from just 1 domain.

Well it is shocking lol I don't think they will ban me but I don't want them to put me in the "sandbox" , btw when I buy a domain "aged" and I take it with the original, does google treat it as a new domain? cuze I kind of heard that new domains sometimes they go into a sandbox.. or the sandbox myth

An aged domain will remain aged. :-) New Content will only help.

well the site didn't have a single link, thats why I am worried.. I just redesigned it since I tried to run adwords for it but the Conversion rate was pretty bad, My landing page sucked big time.

I made one sale from 120 clicks.. but it is always good to test and see the people reaction to understand what changes need to be done.. I guess lol oh yea and I forgot to mention that I bought it for 5$ lol but the time that i spent on this domain is alot , first time I take a site that serious... most likely I buy a website and park it , never use it

Thanks guys, this forum really rocks

Ha ha ha, nothing to worry about. If the site was fine
without those links, it will be fine without them,

But why just sit there and worry - if you bought a site
for good money then you should spend time to do more
so that the site can earn you more.
