Who Are Good Writers Who Blog?

Hey everyone

I'm looking to find some quality writers who blog - and preferably NOT in the IM field. If you've got hobbies/interests in other areas and there are people blogging who you think are excellent writers could you post their names please?

TIA

Is there a niche you are looking for in particular?

      Hey Howie

Nope - I'm looking for writers who blog and whose writing is clear, concise, entertaining, thought-provoking, yada yada yada. Hopefully you get the picture.

To help further, what I'm looking for is to find 20 to 30 samples of really good writing used in a blog environment that I can use as part of some teaching that I'm doing in the near future (Be reverse engineering some posts, looking at structure, that kind of thing).

Hope that clarifies. Thxs for the response.

These organizations put on international, national, regional and local writers' conferences and networking for finding residential writers' retreats, and you don't always have to be a member to attend. Check the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, The Authors' Guild, The International Women's Writing Guild, A Room of Her Own Foundation, or go to a central listing such as Shawguides, Wikipedia's guide to writers' conferences or ForWriters.com. If your goal is more to just write on your own, to be taken care of and left alone without the need for other writers around, one of the nicest ways to achieve this is simply searching for a writer vacation rental in the form of a regular B&B or rental cottage in an inspiring location.

Thanks for the response. I think you may have misunderstood what I'm looking for - I'm looking for plenty of examples of excellent writing in a blogging environment in multiple markets/niches for the purposes of a teaching exercise that I am operating.

I'm not looking for any kind of teaching for myself. Hope that clarifies things.

Hey Paul...don't be so hard on yourself! lol....

The amount of websites, tools, and resources available, online, are absolutely insane and, outside of writing them all down, can be very easily forgotten. Of course, you can always bookmark them, but I tend to even forget I have certain thing bookmarked...lol

In order to remedy this, I actually have a white board in my room where I have a long long list of things like similar blogger blogs and general online resources. It's helped tremendously.

              Another good idea.

Being the highly analytical person that I am, I've done all I've done online simply by analyzing what other successful people have done. Their entire business models are embodied in their blogs and free products. It makes me frustrated when I hear that people don't know how to get started online....everything people will ever need is readily available for their consumption...

The problem people get into is that of information overload. They are bombarded by information from a million different directions. Instead of stepping back and synthesizing it all, they get frustrated and, the end result: the end up doing nothing.

The single best thing I did online was analyze the blogs of others. I assembled a monstrous list....I looked at what people did and didn't do. I analyzed the depth of information they provided for free, how the integrated affiliation, and the sequence and substance of their autoresponders.

I joined their mailing lists, and observed at a distance, what they did and didn't do. I deconstructed their business models and made my own.

lol...a little off tangent....but, anyway....yeah....when I return home from my advanced army officer training, I'd like to instead have a full wall that is a dry-erase board.

Outlook NOTES and bookmarks can only help so much. I want alot of information readily available for recall. I want to have a wall at my disposal. I'll ask my wife if I can get one....lol

                  Hi Paul,

This might not be what you're looking for (because it's not really a blog), but one of my favorite writers is Connie Schultz.

She writes about everyday life from an entertaining and often hilarious point of view. This, of course, is coming from a woman's perspective :p!

I don't know if she has a blog but here is a list of articles she wrote:

    Hi Paul,

Firstly, don't flame me...I'm only human! Here's a blog that I regularly "read", OK perhaps "watch the videos" would be a more apt description.

However, the marketing genius behind this blog is plain for most to see. I have been into health and fitness most of my life, and therefore regularly read relevant content, as well as writing about it myself.

Zuzana's blog is extremely attractive for a number of reasons, but as an IMer, I am seriously impressed by her obvious prowess. She knows her stuff, she uses her "talent and skills" to enhance the reader's experience, she is not into the "hard sell", she provides bundles of relevant, interesting, and sometimes thought provoking content.

I will admit that from an IM/business perspective there is plenty more she can do, but something tells me that her blog/business is already producing a nice income for her. PR6, 50,000 - 100,000 visitors a month, an Alexa rank below 50,000, the list goes on...

      Hey Partha

Why on earth would I flame you? You actually read the OP and responded with a suggestion - which is exactly what I wanted.

      Thank you!

        LOL!

Probably because I spend more time "watching the videos", as opposed to actually "reading the content". :p

good blogger are those who write dynamically. They can adjust to whatever niche they are at the moment. When you try to search for a blogger ask him or her regarding his/ her accomplishments. Preferably updated blog sites being maintained and some other portfolio backgrounds.

Please read the OP - I'm not looking for a blogger to write for me. I'm looking for quality bloggers to reverse engineer some of their posts.

      Hi Paul!

Is it OK if I suggest myself?

I blog about Technology, MMO, 'Science and God' and have also written over 150 articles in the past 6 months for clients in topics like Computer Maintenance, Household stuff like Gardening and repairing boats and car locks, Food Recipes etc.

My articles got approved in first attempts at Break Studios and Demand Studios.

You can take a look at the various linked sub-domains of INDIHOW : THE INDIAN HOW-TO GUIDE

      Hi James

Thanks for replying - however I've not communicated my intent properly. What I'm looking for are examples of great writers, preferably not IM related, to use as examples of writing that can be analyzed and reverse engineered.

I should have put a suggestion in for anyone else looking for great writers - Steven Pressfield, author of THE WAR OF ART, has a website where you can read a bunch of his writing.

    Always interesting and inspiring.

A good friend of mine blogs every day and has built up a quite large "Holywood/Show Biz" following...strictly via his writing; no "off the page" SEO. The blog: By Ken Levine. (Disclaimer: Ken and I also partner on an annual project. So I suppose in a very indirect manner, by promoting him I'm somehow promoting my own interests. But I'd much rather that my blog got the kind of traffic his gets.)
