[NEED HELP] Using Warrior Forum Responses as Quotes On Squeeze Page

Hi fellow Warriors!

I was wondering if I could quote the responses to my products here on Warrior Forum directly on my squeeze page.

Would that be copyright violation?

I would obviously add a link to the thread on WF.

TIA

Samir

Why don't you ask the people who left the responses if you can have their permission to add to your squeeze page?

      OK! Thanks.

But should I PM 20 guys asking for the same thing?

If they are responding to your WSO with great comments, wouldnt that become your property now, if it is on your thread? I dont think they would mind, unless you change it, or use it for a different product. Those are my thoughts.

Albert, your logic is good. It's also wrong.

Posts on the Warrior Forum belong to the poster, period. Part of the site terms give Allen, as owner, a license to pretty much do as he pleases with those posts.

That license does not extend to the thread starter (WSO seller, in this case).

Samir, if you want to use people's comments, you need to secure their permission. Even if that means sending 20 PMs.

And if they say no, you're out of luck...

        Hi John!

I guessed pretty much the same

And had to leave many visitor messages since max 5 PMs per hour.

Anyway, I've gone ahead and asked for their permission, and hopefully they would agree to it

This could be a good thing, emailing 20 people. When I asked a few people if I could use their testimonials from my WSOs, they ended up sending me other testimonials that in some cases were better than what they put on the WF.

          Sylvia

PS: If they bought your WSO, you must have their email contact, don't you? Then you can just email them from home.

I hope it turns out similarly for me too

Actually, when I contacted them, I asked:

'Do you mind if I use the testimonial from the WSO, or if you prefer, would you be willing to send me an original one for my site?"

It also depends on your site, but you can also offer a link back to their sales page or blog, whatever they prefer. I then included the link with their quotes, which gave them a free link. Marketers like that.

Oh! I have sent that in the email to my list, but I think I didn't send that to the non-list members in the PMs and visitor messages

    To the OP.

You like to over-complicate these things...

Help other warriors to solve their problems and they will start saying (posting) nice things about you. Then ask them politely (PM or email) if you can quote those lines in your upcoming WSO or sales page or wikipedia article about yourself :p

Nobody ever said "no" to me.

Well it did seem way easier to just quote their initial responses!

You had already another thread about the copyright of the posts in this forum. Which part of the replies you couldn't understand?

Copyright is copyright - even in India: your country also signed the Berne Convention plus other related international agreements:

Well I simply do not understand the logic behind treating "Thanks for the downloads" as copyrighted intellectual property.

Anyway, I obviously won't do anything against the "Rules"

While those kinds of comments probably aren't worth much, they are indeed copyright protected, for better or worse.

        I am curious, though...

Why are you so anxious to have a pile of 'thanks fro the free stuff' comments? All it shows is that some people took your freebie.

Unless you're trying to demonstrate traffic for the sale offer you hope to get?

My aim is midway between that and showing that the response has been positive.

There are 20 subscribers till now (18 confirmed) and all are from Warrior Forum.

So, my bet is that most of them have posted those responses.

      Samir,

Just out of curiosity - others in this thread seem to be of the impression that we're discussing responses in a WSO thread. But you're not a War Room member and only joined the forum in November, so it can't be a WSO.

What product(s) are you referring to?

You're right. It is a normal thread in the MMO section.

I've actually reported 4 or 5 of the replies as spam and had them removed. So, it should have been 25 or 26! :p

      Yes, so I see.

The OP would probably be better advised to ask one or two of those posters for their opinion/review of the actual products.
