What Writers Make You Money??

13 replies
Hello warriors. Up until now I have been marketing myself and doing all the grunt work. I don't mind any of it except one thing and that is writing articles. At this point I would like to outsource.

My 1st question is where do you guys recommend to find solid writers with seo experience?

Second. How much would it cost per article on average for the place that you recommend?

Thanks a lot in advance for your comments and suggestions and I hope you guys are cranking it out for 2011!!

    The writers who make me money are not the ones who focus on SEO, but the ones that focus on telling a story people want to read.

      Great point, Bill. So many people get obsessed with forcing keywords into something, that they wind up creating something that's not interesting or that's just completely awkward - and no one wants to read that!

      To answer the OP, the writer that can make you the most money is someone who can take your niche, create something awesome that people want to read all the way through, and integrate your keywords naturally (so that they don't stick out like a sore thumb!) After all, if no one's bothering to read your content, they'll never make it to your resource box/call-to-action.

    Another thing you could do if you do buy SEO driven articles then you can apply an intro to the article and a closing to make your articles more personal and less like crappy SEO written content no one wants to read. Just an idea...

    Ideally though you want a writer who knows what they are talking about and leaves a personal element to their writing for the readers to see.

      It is easier to search optimize a great article, than it is to make a crappy article more readable.

      Honestly, most of my articles are search optimized.

      I write a great story first, and when everything is just perfect, I go back through the article to see where I can make minor adjustments to the wording to make it more search engine friendly.

      I also tend to follow the philosophy of using a family of related keywords, as opposed to shoving the same keyword into the article repeatedly.

      The best example I have ever learned to give is this one:

      When using the word "website" as your target keyword, related keywords include:

      * websites
      * site
      * sites
      * domain
      * domains
      * home page
      * web page

      I have read suggestions by some in the SEO community that Google prefers the more natural "family of keywords" in a page, more than the repeat of a single keyword.

      My experience tends to back up this suggestion.

    I concur. A lot of writers still are stuck in 2004 with wanting to "SEO" articles. It ends up just being a gigantic mess.

      The writers who make me money are the ones who can follow directions.

      Different types of articles serve different purposes... some are written for SEO, some are written to presell using a storyline that engages the readers, some are written for the purpose of showing an expertise.

      There are two types of writers whose work is profitable for me: The ones who specialize in any of the types of writing, and the ones who can follow directions to write whichever one I direct them to write.

        I'm glad too see I'm not the only one that despises the keyword stuffed articles. I was doing article wrting last month and making some decent money but I hated it because the guy I was working for was setting me instructions along the lines of 300 word article with 8 paragraphs and the keyword mentioned in every paragraph and in the first and last sentence of the article.

        I don't know if anyone has tried something like this before but it comes out horrible and I was ashamed to be creating this content. If I go back to article writing it will definitely be more on my terms where I can be proud of the content I create.

        Having said that my advice is look for article writers that are clearly proud of the content they create and do not over emphasize the SEO aspect.

    • I get all mine done from a guy on fiverr.com I wont post his gig to avoid being called a spammer

      Some people say fiverr is a waste of time and money, but not if you find the right gigs. Ive bought 20+ articles off the same guy, just because he does such a great job.

      Check it out.

      Hi Sharingan,

      Here are the top three ways to find experienced article/SEO writers:

      - Elance.com and Guru.com: Elance and Guru are two freelance websites where thousand of freelancers sign up searching for work. The great part is that you can see the writers’ profile, past work, and reviews. That way you can make an informed decision about which writer is right for your needs.

      - Craigslist: Craigslist is a quick and easy way to find freelance writers. However, be careful that you have a way of verifying the quality of the writing before you pay for the entire job.

      Freelance writing forums: Freelance writers are always hanging around these forums looking for work.

      The average cost for the typical article (600 words) is about $4 to $5. Of course that number is not set in stone and you can try to negotiate your price to a more competitive rate.

    Lot of article writers are available on odesk. Try finding experienced one from there. Usually writers from developing countries will bid low charges so it is not expensive. Other outsourcing sites will also help you. Cheers!!!

    If you want a solid writer to write on internet marketing related topics, then you should hire them from a forum like this one. If you don't need internet marketing related topics, then I would go to any of the freelancing sites to hire a writer, or go to Craigslist.

    I have found writers very cheap on Craigslist, but if you want to keep a good writer working for you, you will have to pay them more than $.01 per word.

    Great writers eventually figure out they can make more than $.01 per word, and they move on to more lucrative projects.

      Thanx for all the input guys. And you guys are right. If I find a good writer and tell them the topic(keyword) I'd like them to write about. The keyword and the lsi keywords should come up naturally.

      I will look at elance, guru and craigslist odesk. Thank you devid and jonibravo
