Here's a GREAT Idea, If You Want To Get Rich And Create A Huge Following...

Step 1. Identify a problem.
Step 2. Learn how to present ideas clearly
Step 3. Learn how to teach people effectively
Step 4. Create a comfortable and productive learning environment
Step 5. Create the product/training material, based on lesser products who didn't do steps 2 - 4.
Step 6. Gather a handful of coaching students, let them in for a few bucks
Step 7. Get them REAL results
Step 8. Refine your teaching/product/system accordingly
Step 9. Write a short, detailed letter to your prospects, explaining your story of how you created the product, what problems it solves, your proof and results and why it's a bargain.
Step 10. Track your sales for 3 months, get to know your numbers, then approach ten or so big players in non-competing areas of the same market.

Final step: Sit back, sip your pina colada, watch the pretty people walk past you on the beach.

Thankyou, and goodnight.

P.S - Allen, you can close this place down now. Nothing left to see

I would also recommend trying to develop a trustworthy personal brand. Give LOTS of value, and do what you can to foster and incentivize loyalty.

What if I don't want to get rich because I heard that rich people are always a target of the poor? For example, many rich people have been bashed severally in this forum alone.

What if I don't want anybody to follow me because I heard that leaders suffer a lot in the hands of their naive followers? For example, I know how many times people have asked why Allen has not given them an iPad...

Good point. My advice is find a warm cardboard box, under a shelter, and be happy in the knowledge that nobody is gonna hate you anymore...

... they'll just flat out ignore you, or pity you.

Which is worse now... being rich, or being poor?

Jokes aside, this thread is a bit tongue in cheek, but the core message is...

MOST PEOPLE HAVE KILLER INFORMATION BUT CAN'T TEACH FOR ****. If you can teach well, then you don't even need the best material.

Once you can transfer an idea - and a subsequent result - over to a large group of people, you'll never have to worry about your reputation suffering, or going hungry.

    Nick,

    Great post.

In my opinion Step 3 is the most important step to master in this process - so few people know how to teach effectively. (As a corolloary to that, too few people know how to learn effectively either).

If you want to find out how to teach and learn effectively, start researching the topic of Deliberate Practice. There's plenty of material out that that you can draw from.

      Exactly Paul. Exactly.

I admit, I have a lot to learn in the area of teaching effectively, so I'm not saying any of this like I'm the expert.

But I do know from experience, that effective teaching of mediocre material is far more profitable than poor teaching of excellent material.

Because at the end of the day, it's all irrelevant if nobody learns anything.

The title certainly caught my attention. Good points. Solving a big problem can certainly create a snowball effect.

It's not just about solving a big problem. That should be part of any business. The key point here is HOW you solve the problem.

Do you make it clear, easy and applicable... or do you send your customers into a spiraling hole of confusion?

Whether it's clunky software or mumbling videos... the content may be amazing, but unless it's delivered efficiently and clearly, in a way that people can absorb and apply, then it might as well be ignored.

      And usually, it is.

Sounds a lot like Travis Sago, The inventor of the bum marketing method. He taught people how to do effective article marketing for free then he provided them his own product within the relationship niche and just sat back and enjoyed the rewards, It's a very good example to follow.

      Yep, I agree.

He's also a great TEACHER... which reinforces my point.
