Why is Warriorforum is missing this...

Hey...

Warriorforum is a quite large forum, wouldn't you agree?

That's why it really bugs me that it's impossible (as far as I know anyway) to grab an RSS feed from my favorite forums...

I use feeds a lot when I'm out (plug em into google reader and read them on the go from my android phone)...

I've seen the forum-shell that WF uses on a lot of other forums, and they have RSS enables...

Is it because it's too late (meaning too much work) to implement or is there another reason for the lack of RSS?

(or maybe I'm an idiot and RSS is already available, if so, please let me know

    Well...

You could make your own feed:

    Bing: "internet marketing online" site:warriorforum.com

    code:

    hxxp://www.bing.com/search?q=%22internet%20marketing%20online%22%20sit e%3Awarriorforum.com&format=rss

Use the above, take "internet marketing online" input your own keywords to pull a feed on that subject.

Yeah I know there's some tools that can create feeds, but thanks anyway. Didn't know bing could do it though. That's a great little tip right there

But my points is that I cannot understand why warriorforum hasn't made RSS available?

It seems to me that it's only a question of pushing a few buttons, but maybe I'm wrong?

Either its disabled or I don't know how to do it anymore.

    Used to be

    Main forum: warriorforum.com/external.php?type=rss2

    Individual forums: warriorforum.com/external.php?type=rss&forumids=1

lol, the feature I really want is USER RSS Feeds....Now that would be really cool.

There are a dozen or so Warriors I would sign up for a feed of their posts to be dropped into my Google Reader in a heart beat, but there is two glaring problems with our desires.....

The Warrior Forum is also an ADVERTISING PLATFORM. If we do not come to the forum we do not see the offers, we do not buy the offers....

The Warrior Forum is a SOCIAL COMMUNITY. If we do not interact in the forum, we lose a large percentage of the value.

But, I'd still love to have those user feeds....It would bring me to threads I really want to participate in because people I enjoy listening to are busy sharing.

Hi Barry.. Yeah User Feeds would be cool...

I've thought about that... However, with an RSS feed you'd always check back to the forum whenever you found something interresting... In fact, I think that many users would come back more often, if they had a feed with the newest threads...

Ussually, the feed only shows the first post in a thread.
And don't forget, as things are now, you can subscribe by email both to the forums and single threads.

I'd want that too, but I bet they disabled it due to processing drain on the server.

This has come up before and I recall Admin giving a reason that it isn't happening.

It makes sense to me - the purpose is to use the forum and to participate. If you are only pulling from the forum, it's a drain on resources without an upside.

          I disagree...

I subscribe to a lot of forums and unless you "live" here (no pun intended) you tend to "forget" to come back...

I'm pretty sure that FEEDS would make more people come back and participate. I might be wrong and if they've done some testing and stuff, well....

The "resource" drain makes sense though!

Not sure what you are disagreeing with. I said I understood at the time why Admin said no RSS feeds.

If the owner of the forum says it isn't happening right now - that's the bottom line. I know there are forums that struggle to get people to post at all - doesn't seem to be a big problem here.

If memory serves, there were two main reasons for not having RSS enabled.

The first was the hit on server resources.

The second had something to do with content scrapers...

When I first read the above, I understood it as "RSS = non-visiting members". That was where I disagreed, but after re-reading it, I can see that, that wasn't necessarily what you meant

The problem is balancing usefulness and ease with the potential for misuse and abuse. Tricky stuff, that.:p

It is not missing a search box.

Look up at the red bar towards the top that starts with User CP. The third link from the end is Search. When you click the down arrow, the search box opens.

There are several ways to search the forum. If you go to the top of any page, the first menu has a search option. If you click it, you get multiple search functions for both the discussion forums and the Warrior blogs.

In addition, you can also search within specific threads, something that comes in handy when you get monster threads like the current one on making money with Amazon.
