Help me with the next step

Hi guys

ok so if anybody remembers I set up 2 affiliate websites selling amazon products early last week. Both have been kept up to date with new content added at least once daily.

I have also been article marketing like hell, producing nearly 70 articles for one of the sites. Most have now been published and indexed, the rest are waiting. search rankings have improved, yet my traffic is still very low.

I have exhausted myself of content for now, but i dont want to take a break. when you are staring blankly at an empty document, it's time to do something else. what can i do that is pro-active and will help my sites in the long run?

As I always ask, did you do your keyword research on your domains and niche before you jumped in? This is the perfect example of why you want to target keywords that are searched on a daily basis so you do not have to face this battle of no traffic. Imagine if you choose keywords that people searched related to your product, they google the keyword, they find your articles or your website depending on rank and viola, instant traffic.

You produced 70 articles and don't have a constant flow of traffic yet? Wow, pretty amazed. If you wrote 70 articles and used software (work smarter not harder) you could have had your articles submitted to over 70 x 3000 = 210,000 article directories, giving you thousands of backlinks plus a constant flow of traffic.

I am waiting to hear what you guys have to say to help this internet marketer out, what is a person to do after they've exhausted themselves with content and still not getting any traffic. (The #1 reason why people last in the long run)

      hi kiloh

thanks for the reply. well i'm currently on page 2 for 2 of the keywords, and between pages 4-9 for the other 12. the TOTAL search volume for these keywords per month is only around 3000, so the traffic levels right now are predictably low.

can i enquire about your article software method? i submit manually to directories that i KNOW will publish my article quickly and will DEFINITELY be indexed by google. there are too many articles dirs out there where my article will never even get indexed.

Being on page 2 is great, but we all know what page 1 results will bring Now for the 3000 searches a month, is that for broad or exact? Most people make the mistake of using broad, but when you check exact, the results change dramatically. That was one of my problems when I first started, I only used broad (as advised by other people) but I wasn't getting any results. Some of the keywords I targeted had over 6,000 results, but in exact it would drop to 500.

The article marketing strategy I personally use myself to help my sites is located in my sig. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links in the thread.

it's exact search volume - i perform a lot of SEO for my clients page 1 will come, these keywords are reasonably easy. it would not surprise me if some reach page 1 after the other articles are published (pending). some will reach because of the content alone - longtail.

just wanted some ideas on how i can busy myself during the times when content isn't flowing...

I am no great expert in this but where do you rank on Google for the terms? And kiloh is definitely right about the keyword research. Did you do any before writing the articles? It is all very well working hard and I commend your effort however it must be backed up with solid, accurate research to ensure that your hard work has purpose.

I think you should maybe wait another couple of weeks and you will see an improvement. As you say at 3,000 searches that traffic is not particularly high but if you are top of the results then it still won't be too bad.

Just keep doing what you are doing and it should be ok. Try to target slightly more searched phrases and keywords though.

Waiting is pretty much the only thing you can do once you've submitted articles using article marketing. You can still gain traffic from other sources like social networks but that takes a lot more work and after you've posted about your subject on your wall or tweeted, if nothing happens, posting again feels like you're spamming your friends.

i did very careful keyword research, targeting mostly longtail, hence the low volume traffic. i don't expect to see much traffic right now, i am asking what i could be doing in the mean time - what do you guys do when you've worked pretty hard on one project? start another? refine your plan? sit and wait? watch TV?

In the meantime I would not recommend you to start another project. Keep all your focus on your main site until you have developed it to where you want to be. The problem with starting more projects is if your second project ends up like your first one, you will get discouraged. This is why most internet marketers tend to give up, they want instant gratification and we all know results aren't instant in some cases.

Think outside the box and find ways to improve your site, do research on your competition, see what's working for them. Yes, you can watch tv, but just don't take a long break or you'll end up a coach potato! Hope this helps.
