Dirty Little Affiliate Trick!

I just gave away an idea from my "ideas notebook" as you can see in my sig
and it's time for one other. It's Ebbi Original

The site is Domaintools.com
Tools: Reverse IP and Name Server Spy

Code:
What is Reverse IP?

Reverse IP is easiest way to find all the .com, .net, .org, .biz, .us, and
.info websites hosted on a given IP address. Enter an IP address or
domain name and receive a list of up to 2,000 domains hosted on that IP.
Lookups with over 2,000 results can be ordered as a report containing
the full list.
Code:
What is Name Server Spy?

Name Server Spy is Domain Tools new, powerful name server monitoring
technology that lets you monitor the daily activity of .com, .net, .org,
.biz, .us, and .info domains on any name server under 50,000 domains.

Monitors come to you by a daily email with a list of changes for the
previous day. You can adjust when emails are sent and what data it
contains.
Most of you already know that people buy their domains often few months
before even launching a product using the domain.

And many of you know that more and more IM's are using VPS to host
all their sites (Virtual private server).

So using this information I thought of this dirty little trick.

People are starting to buy VPS to host all their websites, to have more
control, speed and lowering the hosting cost. While this might all be
really good most people don't understand that they are leaving their
back door wide open when it comes to privacy.

Using the Name Server Spy I can pay domaintools.com few dollars to
get emails each and EVERYTIME something new happens on your
service. So when ever you sign your new domain to the name server
I'll be the first one to know!

When I realized this my 10% active brain started working again and
this is what I came up with.

Find a successful internet marketer and use the reverse ip tool to lookup
what sites he might have on some one name server.
(For this example I'm going to use Mike Filsaime. Doesn't matter because
he's using kiosk.ws to cover his back)

When I use the reverse ip tool and lookup the domain mikefilsaime.com
I find out that there are 92 domain on this server meaning there is some
serious activity going on, or at least there was some serious activity going
on. So next step is to take mikefilsaime.com and using the name server
spy tool to start spying on Mike's server.
(If you lookup a domain and it has like 2000 domains all on one name
server it's not a VPS)

So you might ask your self why in the world do I want to know what's
happening on Mikes server! But some off you have already figured out
why I call this a Dirty Little AFFILIATE trick.

You see all the big guns out there buy their domain months before
launching the service/product. So just imagine if you where spying Mike
Filsaime's sever and one day you get an email telling you that a new
domain was added to the server.
You go and check out what that domain name is and for example it's
viraltopsecret.com, telling just from the domain you can imagine he's
about to launch some kind of a IM info product on how you can make
money online using a top secret viral method.

What you want to do is go straight over to godaddy and buy the domain
viraltopsecretS.com or viral-top-secret.com

When you have the domain, setup a simple wordpress blog on it
and start blogging gossip about a new product that Mike is about
to launch and just make us some stuff... Buzz the people!

Write few articles and post them into articles directory's using the domain
name and also Mike's name.

Because you're the only one talking about a product (keyword) that no
one else is talking about you'll get on Google's first page in matter of hours
and not only for the keyword name but also the keyword domain. So when
ever someone types in viraltopsecret.com you're site is going to be one
step behind Mike's site and you're headline is going to be. "Viral Top Secret
is scam" or something like that making people check out your site first just
to make sure, even when they know it's not Mike's site!

3 to 5 articles should be enough and just one blog post each week is plenty.

So when the time comes for Mike to launch his new info product you'll have
him dominated for his OWN product name and we all know how valuable
targeted search engine traffic is.

So when Mike is emailing his HUGE list and promoting it all over the WWW
there are always going to be people that enter the exact name of the
product into Google and many of them do it because they are on their way
to BUY IT.

Because you are smart you joined Mike's list so when the launch happens
you'll be able to go get your affiliate id and turn your blog into a review/blog
site and having the affiliate id posted all over the place!

Because more and more people are starting to do VPS hosting this trick can
be used more and more in the coming months if people aren't careful.
I don't think I have to go over this little trick any further.

Like always I ask people to think outside the box!

*viraltopsecretreview.com is also a good buy so when people start searching
for reviews your site will be on top!
*Look at this also as a wakeup call if your running your business on a VPS

Hope you enjoyed!

Very Interresting, however I think for some it just might work. This is like insider trading (like shares and stuff).

Anycase of course there are simple stuff they can do to lower that risk, of course if they want to. Having another person going through effort to promote a product while I develop it, would also be great. The risk as I see it is on the other affiliates who will not do it.

I am also a host, and it is very easy to setup a private NS for the domain, and this tool does not pick that up. However it might through IP, but there you just get your own IP. Another way to inexpensively do this is to go to a shared host, register your domain to that NameServer, and then transfer it later to your server. Say about three days before you launch your product. Cheap simple and effective.

But of course, why prevent an enthusiastic guy to promote your product for you so long. I mean youll het the income in anycase and the power lies in the list as far as my experience goes.

But again, I might be wrong

Yes... People can easily prevent this by making their name server
private or like you said having it on a shared hosting to begin with
and then moving it 2 days before the launch to their VPS if they
have one. This was also shared in the purpose so people would
    be aware of this.

The problem is that your taking organic search engine traffic away
from keywords that the owner would be ranked number 1, While
some won't care as long as they are making sales, some might
not like that fact your "stealing" traffic from them using the name
of the product. There are affiliate programs out there that don't
allow affiliates to bid on the domain, product name when doing
PPC so these people might not be to happy about this

It'll be funny when you waste time doing this next time someone registers a domain, then does nothing with it for years.

Right now Mike is probably registering a bunch of garbage names just to keep you distracted.

Like I stated this just came from my idea notebook.
Just like the Incentive twist. I haven't tried it and I probably
never will because there are so many things that can go wrong.

But then again some people might find this interesting and also
people can learn to protect them selfs from this.
