FireFox VS IE (Both Stink In My Opinion)

Well, I've been using Firefox for some time now, having finally gotten away
from IE, which gave me all kinds of problems.

But lately, I am finding things about Firefox that I like even less. I'd like to
say it has something to do with having installed Kaspersky (problems started
right after that) but honestly I don't know since these problems are not
showing up in IE.

So you know what versions I'm using, Firefox 2 and IE 6.

Here is the problem I am experiencing.

I'll go to a site in Firefox, it will start to load and then suddenly it will just
stop loading. Sometimes it will finish (usually a couple of minutes later) but
sometimes I have to hit the refresh button.

If I go to the same site in IE, it loads right away. No lag time. And I'm on
a high speed connection in case anybody is asking.

This problem doesn't happen on all sites, but it does seem to happen on
sites that are either forum based, retail based or multimedia based. In
other words, where a lot of resources would be used. Blogs, things like
that, no problem.

If it was Kaspersky, wouldn't it affect IE as well?

If it was my connection, wouldn't it affect IE as well?

The other day, I went to a site to watch a video in Firefox. The page just
wouldn't finish loading. I finally closed it up, brought up IE and the page
loaded in literally 5 seconds.

This is becoming very frustrating, especially here at this forum as threads
are taking 30 to 60 seconds to load. In IE, no wait time.

I don't want to go back to IE 6. One of the things that I DO love about
Firefox is the ctrl t function for opening up a tab in the same window. IE
6 doesn't support this function and there is no way I am going to IE 7 with
all the problems that monster has.

I know you're going to say to check and see what plugins I have for
Firefox. Well, I don't know how to do that (I looked through tools and can't
find anything) and besides, the only plugin I think I have is for Stumbleupon,
though I am not sure.

If anybody has any idea why I am suddenly having this problem since
installing Kaspersky (may or may not be the cause) I'm all ears. I have
even tried disabling Kaspersky so that it doesn't scan for viruses when
going to web pages, but it didn't solve the problem.

All I know is that before I got Kaspersky, I didn't have this problem. And
when I read many reviews about it slowing up your PC considerably, I was
concerned, though most people here assured me it wouldn't happen. Well,
now I'm not so sure. And yet, why is IE fine? Doesn't make sense.

Anyway, any help you can give me will be appreciated because I am
actually ready to go back to IE.
