Is there a difference between http://www and www?

Im asking this question because I'm guessing one of my sites got sand boxed by the "Big G" a week ago.

Anyways when I put the "http://" in front of my url, all of my links shows up according to SEO Quake. But when I put "www" instead and "NOT" the http:// none of my links shows up on SEO Quake. It says 0 0 0 0 all the way across lol...is that normal?
#difference #http or or www #http or or www #www

The "normal" URL always starts with http:// - it tells browsers, software and machines what kind of transfer to expect... it stand for HyperText Transfer Protocol.

People think www is for writing URLs. Actually, it is not. Besides being obsolete (i.e. useless) - it is not a correct, full URL. URL's start with http.

HTTP is the protocol used to transfer data to and from the website.
    2. WWW is the identifier that indicates that it is a web site and it uses the HTTP protocol.
    3. HTTP://anything.com, Anything.com, HTTP://WWW.anything.com leads to the same site.

Actually, www is a subdomain (it is short for World Wide Web.) It was so commonly used, however, that people came to expect all websites were located at www.anything.com. (and the same for .com) In fact, there was at least one version of Netscape that if you typed "anything" in the location bar, it assumed both and would try to find the site at www.anything.com.

If you type in anything.com, the browser will add the http://. It will take you to anything.com. If the server for anything.com is set up to do so, the server will redirect you to www.anything.com. This can be set up to do the opposite as well, so that when the browser takes you to www.anything.com, the server redirects to http://anything.com. Neither one is automatic.

      Hope this information is helpful.

      Respectfully,
