I have had this with a few of my sites before. The issue for me was the htaccess file. You may need to edit or create this file (if it isn't present). Check out Using Permalinks at the help section on the wordpress website.
        Hope this helps.

If it's the .htaccess that needs adding/changing - when you are saving a change to the permalinks, at the bottom of the page you'll see a message that says something like "if you're .htaccess file was writeable blah blah blah"

When this happens to me, I use ftp software to download the .htaccess file from a site that works (it's in the root directory at the same level as wp-content, wp-admin etc)

Then just ftp the working version to the site that needs it.

This happened to me once when using wordpress . . .

The reason why was because I had put in a "custom" catergory tag base . . .

For some reason it wouldn't work. I reset that to default and no probs since.

(and I also haven't messed with that on any other WP blogs since then either)

for your permalinks you should use this custom structure: "/%category%/%postname%/"

    Hope this helps

It's just a matter of having the wrong code in the custom permalink section. You put in /post, and it should have been /%postname%/ At the moment, every url for every post/page is Post |
