Do you think aiming for $100 a day for newbies is too much or a good starting point? If not, what amount do you think newbies should be trying to achieve on a regular basis?
#$100 #day

I would personally aim for making your first sale. Not many people that go online are able to do this. Making your first dollar online is the hardest thing, but once you do that, it get's a little easier.

Then you can go and make daily goals. But shoot for making your first dollar.

(that is if your a complete newbie just getting into this)

    Good luck!

I agree. the newbie should focus on first setting things up so that they can make a sale first. Then work from there on.

I totally agree with that. But what sort of amount would you set after your first dollar? Would you be happy with anything or would you set goals to try and achieve a certain amount per day/week/month?

    Mike,

I hope you are not asking this advice for yourself. Otherwise it's an awful pre-sell for your signature:

No I'm not asking for myself. I have made more than $100.

I am just curious as to what other people set their goals to when first starting out.

I should actually re-phrase my first question. I didn't mean for the $100 to be made everyday, but that as a newbie do you think their second goal (first would be make a sale) would be to make $100 in just one day? If they can do that, then the next goal would be to replicate that day in and day out.

Mike I'd say make your first focus making you first dollar. Pick something and do it until you have made 1 sale. At that point, keep doing it until you make your second sale. If you get that far, then maybe start working out weekly goals. Daily goals are tough because some days do well, some don't ~ but you can have a bad day and still meet a weekly goal.

WillR is right though... be careful.

I truly concur because normally what happens, someone sets up very high goals and ends up not attaining them, and guess what happens next? All the focus and morale goes dripping down the loo...

Get your first sale. Keep doing it until you have your first sale, second sale and then you can focus on other goals as long as you know you can actually make it.

My first goal was $10 a day. I felt this was within my reach but still a challenge. I just wanted an extra $300 a month. That was it. I'm not looking to quit my day job, or anything else, just wanted to have some extra money each month that didn't involve working part time at a restaurant (even though that would have probably been infinitely easier when I first started haha).

I would say the $5 to $10 a day goal for a beginner is just right. Once you reach that you move onto another goal. And you can have side goals as well. For example when I first started with Adsense it took me almost one year to get to the payout.

Now I get a payout each month. You have to crawl before you walk and walk before you run...

The way I work things in my business model is to break it down into multiple income streams.

Fore example if you wish to earn $100 per day I would break it down into four ways to make $25 per day, or three ways to make $33 per day or whatever.

In my mind this always made it seem more realistic.

      Love that quote haha.

I think your goals should depending on your experience level. If you're COMPLETELY new, and are still figuring out how domains, hosts, web design, etc... works then maybe a good goal would be using adsense and making $5/day.

If you're past that and are working on SEO, link trading, etc.. then maybe you'll have bigger goals ($20/day).

If you're using your own money to make money you'll have even bigger goals (because of your expenses). So if you're running PPC or media buy campaigns... maybe you're looking at $40-$50 a day.

I'm gonna disagree with some people here. (surprise surprise)

Setting a goal for $100 isn't really pushing yourself very hard. After taxes, that's not much money at all.

Instead, set a goal for $500 a day, and have little minigoals on the way to keep you motivated. Don't get caught up in the $100 a day mentality, because once you get there you might feel like you're done, when really you can be pushing yourself a lot harder

It would depend on their goals, discipline and desire, I guess.

For a new project I'm working on since September last year,
and which has a pretty ambitious income target to hit before
December 2011, my initial target was to get to $2 a day.

That happened a month back. Now, it's at $4 a day, and growing.

I know it's seductive to see sales copy promising bigger figures,
and it most definitely is a target to aim for down the line, but you
can't run before you can walk, you can't walk before you stand,
you can't stand before you sit - so start small, work on a plan,
    and aim high.

    That's my 2 cents

    All success

That's really subjective because there are too many variables in play.

It's depend on metality of people, their geographic area, their country, their idiosyncracy, their economy...

For some people $100 a day is a low aim but for others in other countries $100 a month is an accomplishment.

A goal for any newbie to start must be his first sale. Then scalating according to their own perception of success.

Wow! There are a lot of thoughts on this topic.

You have to set a goal, whether it be $1 a day or $100 a day. The next step, as many pointed out, is to decide how you will achieve that goal.

Income-achieving goals should be, like any other goals, S.M.A.R.T.
      • Specific
      • Measurable
      • Attainable
      • Realistic
      • Timely
Applying the S.M.A.R.T. assessment to your goal is a great way to further define and clarify your goal.

It's really easy to reach $100 a day...

find a CPA offfer that pays $25 for a free trial... then run traffic to a squeeze page.. you only need 4 conversion a day to make that income... its not too low

$100 translates to about $36,500 a year which is more than a good chunk of people make.

That being said, I don’t think newbies should focus on the money at all.

I think they should be more focused on more fundamental things such as building a strategy that works, becoming disciplined enough to put in a set amount of hours each week, and crafting a plan.

Having a solid base in the beginning is much more important than trying to make money.

Once you have a solid foundation set you won’t be worried about how much money you should be trying to make in one day; you’ll be worried about how to increase the money you already are making in one day.

Iv'e always said...if I can make $1, I can make $10, then 100 and so on. Like was said earlier though, you need to eventually have different streams of income, because at first it seems more doable. Also your going to want to diversify so if one stream dries up you have the others to support you until you replace the empty stream.

build a list, that is the quickest way I got to $100 a day.

Send them helpful emails then plug your product after two or three of them.

Help people while your markeing and selling them stuff. It takes a while to get the full grip on this, but just test and measure things. you will see results if you get off your butt and start working.

I've always believed the best way to reach the bigger goals is to break them down. So instead of choosing $100, I would start slower.. $5, $10, $15... it's not just about the money.

    It's about building confidence to.

I recommend using Adsense for beginners, even if it isn't easy, this will help you build a strategy if you're really disciplined. Like many others said, try to set your goal at $1 a day, then $2, $4 and so on. It will be fun and challenging!

You shouldn't aim for a particular amount of Money. That is the wrong way of doing business. You should aim helping people with problems they face first and foremost. There is always someone looking for a product or service to help them solve their problem out.

The most successful are those who solved the most problems for people and/or helped those people become a better person.

Think "for the better of mankind" and you will find the right path.

What about these products we see where they try and teach us how to make $100 a day, $1,000 a week, $10,000 a month? What is it about these specific numbers that make some people think there is magic involved? Is it something that was taught in the beginning or is there any real significance behind them?

There's no magic here - it's just an arbitrary figure given that either implies you could replace your average full-time income, or make far more than the average person does.

I'm trying to figure out the purpose behind your question to start with....but instead of creating magical statements of what people should strive for ask them magical questions.

Do you want to make $100/day?

Do you dream of making $500/day?

Are you driven to make $1000/day?

If you are setting up to market to someone asking questions allows them to set their own goals and ambitions, instead of you artificially limiting their thinking.

If you are asking the question to motivate yourself, then read the questions closely, their is a subtle difference in each one. Do you WANT, DREAM, or are you DRIVEN?

100$ per day is a lot of money, but it is possible. If you have a website with a niche that has lots of monthly searches, and you are in first page, have a well done monetizing, with adsense or other affiliation then this objective can be attained.

$100 a day for a newbie is huge, as David Farah mentioned, that is almost $40k a year. When I first started my goals were as low as $2 a day, then $5 a day then $10 a day, then $20 a day (from multiple resources) and so on..small, realistic & achievable goals was what motivated me (and those to whom I recommended this type of mentality).

I think newbies should focus on making their first sale or first dollar online. After this for some reasons it gets easier and easier and the money starts rolling in. $100 /day is easy with providing a service as long as it is in demand.

$100 a day is actually surprisingly easy once you've got down to the nitty gritty and put in the effort. Once you have managed $10 or $20 days, $100 days become more and more within your grasp. It's making those first few bucks which is the hard part imo.
