Niche marketing the 'easy' way

A while ago I posted how I made $3000 in my first month. It got mixed reviews to say the least. I have since... evolved my strategy somewhat. We'll see if this is easier for anyone, but please keep in mind that you will have to work. Find any 'guru' or millionaire; they put in their time. So anyway, here is how I do niche marketing now.

Niche research and keyword research:

I like to stick with hobbies; you know that the people have money and are willing to spend it. Plus, no legal issues. If you have trouble, check out the 'for dummies' book, see whats a top seller on amazon, or search 'how to' with the google adwords tool to see what is being searched.

Once you have a niche, time to do keyword research. Download domain samurai (it's free) and do some simple keyword research. I shoot for a minimum of 10 phrase searches a day with less that 1000 competiting title pages (SEOT).

Generating Traffic

Now that you have your keywords, write (or hire to write) an article per keyword. One a day is fine, but try to do one every day. Post the article on your site, then submit it to EZA, Goarticles, ArticleBase, and Article Dashboard.

Using a flip or webcam, create a video and submit it using tube mogul (also free) for each keyword.

Now, go and sign up for onlywire (also free). Sign up to facebook, twitter, digg, delicious, buzz, stumbleupon, and up to 5 others if you want (those are the big ones). Bookmark one page of your site each day, but no more! No spamming the poor social sites like everyone else.

Making Money

Set up a landing page to build an email list, then have the download page offer a product for a reduced price. I always have this product at the regular price on my site so that they can see that they are saving money.

Send quality information daily and promote something no more often than once weekly, but still give information with the promotion.

Reinvesting

I recommend investing in

Aweber, linkjuicer, easypushbutton traffic, and seo linkvine. Additionally, Ninja Affiliates is a very cool wordpress plugin that replaces your keywords with links and cloaks them.

Learning

Check out Cenay Nailor's blog, you'll learn a ton about SEO and wordpress. The War Room is amazing also. Other than that, just get work done!

Hopefully this helps someone,

Sean

    Nice post!

I like your approach to keyword research. I also like hobbie niches, and I try to stay close to these. Because like you said, these people are spending money.

A lot of newbies can take this information and run . . . this is essentially a biz model in a nutshell

    Simple, yet effective! Good Work

For the record, I thought your other post was excellent. You graciously shared what worked for you, and were honest in the amount of effort that it took to get there.

I can answer this for you. Or at least I can tell you what I do. . .

I submit it to my site first, and then I will run the url through the indexing tool then I will submit it to EZA because it normally takes a little bit for them to approve it (except they been kinda speedy lately). In theory, my site will be indexed before the article is approved and indexed, although this isn't always the case.

      Hope this helps

The system as described can work well. However, I suggest a simple refinement with the keyword research. It doesn't really matter how many competing pages there are out there, whether it be 1,000 or 10,000,000. The real competition is on page 1 of Google - 10 websites.

If you can't get onto the first page, you'll struggle to receive traffic.

However, by analyzing the SEO and, in particular, the backlinks of the top 10 entries, you have an idea of whether you can displace any of those on page 1.

As you mentioned Market Samurai, that tool should provide the details you need to assess your chances.

As well, simply look down page 1 of Google for that keyword and visually inspect your competition. Many sites that are merely product listings are easy to push aside if you provide good content with backlinks.

If you backlink the articles, that will push them higher up the serps. Likewise, if you backlink the copy of the article which you place on your own website.

It's very true that you are essentially only competing with the top 10 listings. However, that few titled pages shows me that most of the competition isn't that good at SEO, and I can beat them in a week or two. Plus, since I outsource 15 articles a day, I know that 90-95% of my keywords I'll get #1 on. If I went for less keywords, I'd check the competition closer.
