Where to go to sell sites?

I live in Illinois and Amazon has shut me down. I just started in December and have 3 Amazon Associate sites (all fully SEO'ed) all selling electronics. I also joined Warrior forum just a couple weeks ago, so don't know my way around yet. One of the sites is in position 2 on page 1 already and starting to get traffic. I bought 200 profile linkwheels for it that and they are now trickling in, keeping right there on page one for the top selling television on Amazon. The other two I bought backlinks for and they will be on page one shortly. I was all excited but now have been put out of business by my own Government. I hate to shut the sites down and would rather sell them for at least what I have in them.
Thanks for the direction in advance.
Joan

I have had success selling on Flippa.

Take a look at how other sellers are doing it, what buyers are looking for and what to include in your sales text and you should be able to make some money from your sites there.

First you have not been shut done just yet. Quinn still hast to sign hb3659 that was recently put through to him. You do not have to shut down and sell out just open up an llc in another location if it comes down to it. That is what I will be doing so that I can keep my amazon assosiate sites going strong.

The bill itself forces buyers from any state in the union to pay Illinois sales tax. I found this explanation on line. Once Illinois does this, and the Governor will sign it, virtually all companies and buyers of physical products will stop doing business will Illinois sellers. Everyone needs to write to the Illinois Governor.

      "
If a person in Kansas buys a teddy bear made in Vermont, and an affiliate in Illinois is involved in the transaction, the state of Illinois will force the Vermont company to pay Illinois sales tax. That means the teddy bear company in Vermont now has to muck around with the byzantine layers of state and local sales tax. Potentially different rate for every city and county.
Of course no company in Vermont would ever be willing to slog through all that red tape, so they're just going to terminate all their affiliates in Illinois. Which is exactly what Amazon has promised to do. That will kill Illinois' tax revenue instead of increasing it." Illinois will crush affiliate marketing if you don’t act now.

Thanks to everyone for their help. I made the decision not to LLC elsewhere. I can't justify the expense. I will eventually just move out of Illinois. The State has killed all my online businesses that deal in physical products, not just Amazon.

Even if a company decides to do business with Illinois Affiliates and collect the Illinois tax on the sales of their products, no buyer is going to pay anywhere from 6.25% to 10.5% extra for the same product they can purchase from somewhere else that does not charge that tax.

This tax bill so far does not affect resellers in Illinois or digital products yet (there is no doubt it will in the future, as they are already talking about taxing the used products sold on Ebay).

I have changed focus and will now deal in digital products and continue doing my reseller business. I am lucky because I just started selling physical products as an Amazon Associate and only have those three sites and one bird toy site that is also affected by this law.

This is also a heads up to every other affiliate out there because there are 12 other states that are trying to get similar laws passed.
    Thanks,
    Joan

Thanks again everyone. I have listed them on flippa. I noticed there was more activity on that site even though you have to pay to list and sell.

By sitepoint I'm assuming you mean flippa (flippa bought sitepoints website marketplace).

But as for where to sell your sites, definitely use flippa. I've sold several sites there; all of which the transactions went smoothly.

There is one big issue with Flippa! If someone wins, they do NOT have to pay. And all Flippa does is cancel their account, and they open up a new one!

I know this from personal experience! It's like the way the old eBay was! No constraints on anyone....hopefully they will fix this, someday.

Yeah that can definitely be a pain. I've had it happen to me a few times already.

The good news though is that you don't have to send the person the site until they have paid. Plus, Flippa will refund all of your fees and relist the site for you for free if you run into these fake buyers. Just dispute the sale and you're good.

While it's still annoying to have happen, at least the only thing you're losing is a bit of time instead of your entire site and the listing fees since those are all refunded.

Flippa or right here in Warrior Forum under Complete Sites for Sale. You might have good luck in there. Costs $20 to list in WF and $19 on Flippa.
