The first video editor software that comes in my mind is movie maker from windows 7, and the next software that comes in my mind is AVS

I use Sony Vegas but Windows Movie Maker should be able to do that just fine as it is a fairly simple task.

I would only recommend Vegas if you are going to be doing a lot of video editing. And if you want to get into special effects in the future Adobe After Effects is another good one that I am learnign to use at the moment.

If you only want to add a scrolling bit of text though save your money and use Movie Maker.

Movie Maker of Windows 7 is good software to use. So try it. It is best because you dont need to install other software. So use it.

I would suggest Movie Maker which comes pre installed in Windows 7. It has many features which could be used to make a nice simple video. You also don't need to spend extra amount for a software too.

I would go for a professional video editing software like Power Director, it is a little hard to use, but you will get use to it.

If you happen not to have Windows 7, try Microsoft's Windows Live Movie Maker. It might be the same thing, but since I'm running on Vista I'm not sure. You can find the download for Live Movie Maker here:

I have the Windows Live Movie Maker AND Windows Movie Maker that came with Vista. Not sure of the difference since I haven't check them out but am about to.

Those who have used these...will I be able to edit the audio in the video as well?

I have some videos I need to edit and my speech audio is fine but about half way through it has a crackling feedback thing going on which gets steadily worse.

I would like to keep these videos and not redo them, just take the crackle out.

Can I do that with either of the above 2 programs or will I need another software entirely for this?

      Thanks.

none of these has that level of audio 'repair' capability.

you may have to try something like audacity with has
been free for a while now, and can use VST plugins

the idea being that you can separate the audio, fix it
and then paste it back. this is assuming you can get the
        hang of editing the audio.

though you still may not be able to fix the audio problem
without a really high end editor like soundforge. though you
may be able to get the audio fixed on fivver ... you never
know what people will for a quick buck

      I use Serif's MoviePlus X3 and Camtasia 7.1.

since all you want is to brand the video you can try using
VLC video player as it can not only convert to many formats
you can add a logo and text overlay to any video and then
      export/convert - and it is 100% free

I've used Serif MoviePlus for many years and have been very happy with it. If you just want to watermark your videos, Windows Movie Maker should be more than adequate.
