With the great help received on this very forum, my one domain is ranking position 3 on the first page of google for a VERY competitive keyword.

This is NOT an marketing site - it offers offline services.

Now, some of my good friends and colleagues in the same industry also want me to assist them to increase their website's rankings (at a fee of course).

Now how the heck do I stop them beating me - and how does one handle this situation.

I stand to make a few bob doing this so want to leverage this opportunity the best I can

Ha. Well first of all congrats on your success. Seems like you have a problem that's actually good! If you are concerned about your clients' sites outranking yours, don't do them in the same niche. It wouldn't be really fair if you didn't work as hard as you could for a client just because you don't want them to outrank you.

You kind of have to decide if the amount of current income they could give you is worth potentially losing the long term income you could get from not having competitors.

Or like was suggested, work with others, but in a different niche.

Problem is, this isn't so much of a niche

Problem is, using the methods I learnt from here (and a gazillion other places on the net too) I know it works - and if someone wants my knowledge, then I believe they should pay fot it.

Now for everyone's benefit, this has now become the downside of offline networking. Being one of the more tech savvy peeps of the circle(online anyway), quite a few have approached me to assist them (and they are willing to pay).

Problem is, if I don't assist them for some of the reasons outlined here, I could very well be "ousted" from the community as being selfish or something to that effect.

Damn, it feels good to be there, but has also now brought along its own set of moral dilemma
