Amazon Associates Question!

Hey guys,

Say I have a few links to amazon products at the back of a guide, would anyone who clicks the link have to purchase the item being linked to for me to get a commission, or would it count if they for instance saw the product I have listed and then upon scrolling down they instead purchased one of those "people who purchased this item also get one of these".

Many thanks,
Stephen.

It doesn't matter what they purchase you will still get credit for the sale as long as your affiliate link led them to those products.

With Amazon Associates, you don't need to make a sale of the exact product(s) you're promoting to receive a commission. Once you've referred a visitor there, you will be paid commission on whatever they buy (subject to those items being eligible for commission to begin with - which accounts for most stuff at Amazon).

The big thing is that whatever they buy it has to be on that visit to Amazon, they use a session ID not a cookie to track the sale, so when the session ends your chance to earn commision dies with it (technicaly when they close thier browser the session ends)

No offense mate, but technically this is nonsense: clearly the session doesn't end when they close their browser, otherwise Amazon would be unable to save shopping cart contents and the like. The cookie duration is 24 hours, which admittedly is short in contrast to those provided by other affiliate programs/networks, but it still exists.
