Backlink question: does it work even with different languages?

Hello,

I'd like to know something. If my site is in french but I have some backlinks coming from english sites, does it still counts for Google and other search engines, or do they discard those backlinks in that case?

    I would think they would count as valid because Google has built in translator and as long as the backlinks are coming from an authority site whose backlinks count as 'vote' and they are from a similar content as that of your website.. they should NOT be rejected by Uncle G..

      There is no reason to discard the links at all.

      You may or may not get an extra boost because of the anchor text, but there is certainly no reason to discard a link just because it comes from a site in another language.

        No problem for me, I work with spanish keywords (sometimes mix between english/spanish) and work well

    Yep, international backlinks are just as good. As long as the anchor text is in there, you're good to go.

    Yes it will count it as valid as french back linkings are valid. Because google does not take a look at language it just take look of source of back linking. So there is no need to get worried. Keep on doing your work.
