Have an idea for a catchy domain name & website concept BUT.....

...the domain isnt keyword optimized.

Had an epiphany last night for a new site. Came up with what I think could be a really catchy name(domain is available too) as well as a striking logo ready for branding.

Problem is...the domain name I really want to go with is kinda obscure in regards to the niche/marketplace keywords.

For the more experienced Warriors with multiple sites under their belt. Does keyword relevance dictate your decision even if you feel you have a killer idea & domain name otherwise?

    Is the keyword domain name also avaliable if it is, use it for a couple of months, then re-brand it and do a 301 redirect to your catchy domain name.

    A good keyworde domain will help you rank and get traffic easier if the domain is the exact phrase of your keyword. You could start with that, then do what OP says and redicrect later. Or you could use it as a feeder site to your main site you develop further down the road.
