Can't Get Money Back on "Money Back Guarantee"?

I recently bought one of the IM products being sold by one of the IM Gurus. I'd rather not mention names at this point. There was a "no-questions-asked-money-back-guarantee" for this product, so I figured it was worth a try. I did not personally feel like the product helped me at all. It has now been the better part of a week since I sent the request for a refund and have heard nothing back from them on it. I have also not received the refund.

This is my first time in this situation with an IM merchant. Since they clearly do not have a responsive customer support procedure, what would folks here recommend before I stoop to publicly mentioning who I'm referring to?

Thanks.

Ken

If you have paid through paypal then you have a chance. Try to start a dispute, and in the message. Say that you have received the product but did not work, also i want to ask you, is it an intangible product or a phisical one?

I bought it through Clickbank but with my credit card, not PayPal. It is an intangible product.

You aren't allowed to mention the product or the person. Rule #1 of WF. Since it was a clickbank transaction, just go through Clickbank for the refund. They always refund.

There is no rule against mentioning the product. Rule #1 is about mentioning marketers personally, not their products.

The rule is there to stop personal attacks on the person instead of the product. Mentioning the product is well within the rules, and is why we have a product review section in the forum.

Lazy- that is not necessarily true. I have had a Paypal acct for many years (and ran a successful eBay business for a long time). They definitely side with the buyer on eBay, BUT they have also sided with the buyer on an intangible product of mine before. In fact, it was PLR that I sold and this buyer was a serial refunder. They bought it and then claimed that they didn't really buy it. LOL I showed Paypal the DLGuard download info to show that the person not only downloaded it, but did so TWICE. I thought that would be sufficient but they gave them the $12 back.

Then, I had a service that someone used for a whole month ($99) and then tried to claim that they did not make the charge and it was fraudulent. So, Paypal took the $99 and is still processing that dispute.

Well did they file an unauthorized charge, or did they file a SNAD? Because if it's the latter, paypal can't really do anything about it outside of ebay.

That applies if you're discussing the merits of the product. Not this situation.

The first thing I would do is send the request again... through a different server. I've had people email me from accounts that were blocked because they had compromised machines and had been blacklisted. They got quite touchy when I didn't reply, but the fact is - I never got those requests. It's very unusual, but it's happened 3 or 4 times.

Also, make sure their server or desktop machine isn't listed on a blacklist. That happens more than most people know, because of compromised systems. They could have replied and been blocked on your end. Oh, and check your spam folder.

And if you use something like SpamArrest or other challenge/response systems, lose the crappy "shield" over your address. I've had more problems because of nonsense like that than all other issues combined.

If you don't get a reply, THEN go to Clickbank.

Don't understand some answers here. If you bought "through clickbank" - you request the refund through clickbank. Did you do that???

Doesn't matter what you bought or how you paid for it - CB issues the refunds. Sellers who refund on their own for a clickbank product can get scammed by buyers looking for double refunds.

          Hi Kay,

I think the problem was that the OP didn't mention anywhere that the product was bought via CB until the fourth post.

I would have told him to go straight to CB myself had I had access to that information, I was more concerned with the OP naming the product owner and breaking forum rule #1.

    Hi ken,

I realise how frustrating this must be but I have to say I wouldn't recommend publicly naming them here. It does say as the number one rule not to do so.

I appreciate it's been a week but I would continue to try and get your money back directly with them or hope someone can share some of their experience here.

I have seen this happen here before and because the rule staes not to publicly air these things, you'll invariably feel more frustrated after and the post where you name the said marketer will get deleted.

I wish I could give you more advice Ken.

EDIT. As above you could if you paid with Paypal start a dispute or speak to your credit card company or bank if you paid with those.

    Hi Ken,

In most cases, mentioning names of specific merchants here is not considered good etiquette, when it relates to complaints.

Best bet is to go back to the sales page and scour the disclosure and terms of service pages, and also all the emails you've received. Try to find their contact address. Usually, if it's a major marketer, they'll have a support ticket URL listed somewhere.

The absolute last resort is to do a chargeback on your credit card account. BUT... do keep that as a backup option. Don't do it unless you have to.

A year or two back, when forced memberships were often a hidden part of several "too-good-to-be-true" products, I got caught once. And it was pretty hard to find the URL for requesting a cancellation. Once I did find it, however, they canceled it right away and politely.

    Hope you find it quickly.

Cheers from warm and smiling Thailand,
    Charles

If you bought it through clickbank you can forward your clickbank receipt to:

    refunds@clickbank.com

They should refund you within a day or so

Every time you purchase through Clickbank, you will receive a receipt/invoice via email. In it under Customer Service it reads "If you need additional customer service ClickBank will be happy to assist you.
To make a customer service inquiry with regard to this purchase, please visit: http://clickbank.com/cs/?......"

Click on that link. On the new page, click on Get Support. On the new page, select a reason. Click and select More Options. You will get a choice of Tech Support Request or Refund Request. Select Refund Request, fill out a reason and submit it.

Within a few days you will get a refund.

If you purchase through Clickbank always go through this procedure to get a refund. Going through the person who created the product will be a waste of your time.

Clickbank has a 60 day refund policy, so you're good to go there.

But for people wondering about paypal, unless you bought a physical product and it never got there, paypal will NEVER side with the buyer outside of ebay.

    Especially if it's an intangible.

    Hi Ken,
This happens an awful lot in this industry. Keep trying to contact them, you never know you may succeed. As you bought the product from clickbank they should issue a refund and they are usually good at this or if all else fails go to your cc company and issue for chargeback. Don't name and shame publicly but if you still have difficulties I would take the matter up with clickbank.

It is also a possiblity that a lot of folks are requesting refunds.

With some products recently that seems to be the case. So they might be working their way through a stack of refund requests.

If you do send the refund request through CB, the seller may contact you to try to save the sale. CB will refund but sometimes you will get a persoanl email from the seller in an effort to keep you from refunding.
