Hello Fellow Warriors,
I have a problem and could use some help.
I have recently finished a review site using the Guitar Review Theme by Colleen Slater and I couldn't get the featured-content-gallery to work.
After contacting Colleen about the problem, she attempted to fix it and to make a long story short, the site crashed.
No fear though.
Colleen fixed it and put it all back together but I needed to do all of the SEO and put all of the links back in the posts.
While putting my affiliate link the the Visit-Website button, I accidentally highlighted to much of the code and I Completely Lost The Button.
I contacted Colleen again and she gave me instructions on how to fix it but when I tried, it didn't work.
I'm sure that I did something wrong but not sure what.
I thought that if I went back into Filezilla, that I could just upload and overwrite that file from my computer to my host.'
That didn't work because it would let me copy the file but it wouldn't allow me to paste it in.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • sounds like your in the early stages of wordpress meltdown....

Coleen probably made changes to the file you accidentally deleted part of.... when you overwritten the file you lost the work she has done....

Did you keep a backup of the files before you modified them? I always copy things in to notepad or text edit before i change stuff just in case....

Thank you Austin W and alexio for your responce.
So Far, I have not been able to over write the file that is on my hosting.
When I tried to copy that file from my computer side in Filezilla( which I was able to do) and then paste it into hosting side, I couldn't paste it in.
I believe that Colleen has a back up of this folder as this was just completely rebuilt so I can more than likely be able to contact her again if need be.

    Hi,

It does sound like you may have original files that have been manually updated by Colleen. If you upload the originals, you will lose your modifications (any made by you or Colleen), Unless you have backups from after Colleen's updates.

Im not too sure what you mean : "That didn't work because it would let me copy the file but it wouldn't allow me to paste it in." ??

The next step depends on if you have any backups?

    Thanks guys for your input.
What I have done now is gone into the original folder and move the sidebar.php file to a new folder.
Then I uploaded it to my host, overwriting the one that is there.
When I went back to my site, still nothing.
After going into my dashboard and Appearances to Editor, scrolling down to the sidebar.php and looking in there, it appears that all of the codes and everything are there but still nothing on the site even after refreshing the page.
    Any ideas anyone.....?
