Buying your affiliate products? Yea or Nay?

I've just recently begun creating affiliate marketing sites just to try that side of running an internet business out.

What are the rules in terms of purchasing products through your affiliate links and getting commissions on them? I assume this is against terms of usage and they track by IP, correct?

Do any of you sell to yourself?

They depend on the terms of service of the websites of the companies concerned.

At Clickbank, for example, it's permitted and affiliate commissions are credited. At some other sites, it's permitted but affiliate commissions aren't credited. And at others, it isn't allowed at all.

The terms of service vary. Some track by IP number; others don't. (Clickbank, for example, doesn't).

I sometimes buy a Clickbank product through my own affiliate link, if I want to review it with a view to possible promotion. (I think it would be extremely inadvisable to ask for a refund under those circumstances, though, if deciding not to promote it!).

Sorry - I don't - I'm only a Clickchick; but others will reply soon enough.

You can easily get an answer from your affiliate manager at CJ.

The other day when I bought a Kindle, I entered my affiliate ID at the end of the link but I wasn't credited.

I did clear the cookies and cache before doing that though. But I still wasn't credited.

Not a big deal but I suppose that shows Amazon blocks it.

If you're only going to be buying through your link once or twice, I would say don't sweat it. There are more things to focus on.

Not quite a direct answer to your question but I hope it helped.
