Chain of Events-All the Clicking

Ok, I have to get this straight in my head before I jump out of a window
I have a site, and I just signed up for a google adsense account-->was approved.
I put ads on my site---> Every time someone clicks on one of those ads, I get some money??
Also, since my site is still very small in the niche I'm trying to penetrate, I was thinking of signing up to a program another site in my niche offers.
This other site offers to pay me money for every person that I manage to send to their site. I have a few questions regarding this.
If they pay me money to send traffic their way, isn't it more economical for me to simply try and sell something to them? I don't have any products yet, so can I send them to the other site for money and then stop the affiliation when I have products? When I see fit?
Also, can I have my adsense on my site pointing to wherever I want?
If I were to have adsense ads on my site poiting to this particular site, I would earn double, wouldn't I??
Sorry for all these questions, I am very new to all of this and am trying to get a grip on everything so I can make some logical choices.

Yes, yes and yes. The first yes will depend on whether the products you eventually decide to sell on your site convert well enough to justify dropping the potential affiliate sales from a more established seller.

The AdSense ads are served up by Google and will reflect the content on your site - it's their call, but you can influence the type of advertising by your site's focus.

No. You'd just earn for the ads on your site.
