Posting on Craigslist from outside US

I'm based in UK but Craigslist asks for a US phone number to open an account there. Is it possible for me to get a US phone number from UK? If so how?

    Are you trying to post to a US city? I have a friend living in Japan who started up his copywriting business strictly with Craigslist - no problems at all. But he listed for a local Japanese city - played it straight up - and buyers from all over the world searched for copywriters and found him easily.

    If you could get a hold of a US proxy, you could get a Google Voice number....which you could forward to whatever number you like (plus it can receive SMS messages)
