If a PLR ebook states that the rights offered allow you to give the book away as a bonus but NOT give it away for free, how does this cover an email opt-in incentive giveaway? It is kind of a bonus for opting in, but it will still be free.

I will be rewriting it of course anyway, but am not sure if I can use it this way or not.

That's an interesting question. I would tend to think that you can not give it away to join a list because that's not quite the same as offering as a bonus to a paid product. But that's just me ... maybe you could email the PLR seller?

Thanks for the prompt reply Lee; that might not be a bad idea to email the seller. I have a feeling you may be right about not being allowed though

That's right. You cannot give it away on its own - in it's original form. Probably because it would mean that the ebook will overtake the internet moreso than as a bonus in a purchased product.

If you rewrite the book, you will have to be sure it's 80% original. Also, you'll need to create a new cover if it has one. Then, you can give it away to your heart's content.

I could be wrong but I always thought that if you used it as optin bait, that wasn't giving it away free, your charging an email to get it. If strings are attatched, it's not free.

    Just my take.

Hmm.. Ok, that's an interesting way to think about it. I could go for that too. I think I always just figured you couldn't use it so as to err on the side of caution.

In my view, that would be wrong. You're still giving it away. But if you're unclear, you need to get back to the seller for specifics.

Generally, we think of a bonus as coming with something else. By simply asking for contact information that does not qualify. Notice the OP says the seller indicated "...can give the book away as a bonus". Not given away on its own.

It's funny how something so simple can be interpreted in so many different ways.

Pretty soon PLR rules are going to start looking like 10 page lawyer contracts.

Thanks for your input guys. I think I like the idea of rewriting it completely and changing the cover the most. It means I can personalize it, improve it, make it unique, and give it away all in one go.
