Competitor Offered To Sell Me His Blog

A competitor in one of my niches offered me his blog today for $300.

Blog is around 3 yrs old, has 175 pages, almost no inbound links, and terrible keyword selection....but, it does have a google pagerank of 3.

My static site in the same niche is 2 months old, with 220 pages, and a respectable number of backlinks.

My traffic is higher than his, but I have no pagerank as of yet.

How can I use this to my advantage?

Deeplink from the blog to numerous pages on my site.

Use his blog to link to inbound links directed toward my site. (squidoos, hubs, ezine articles, videos, etc..)

Or???

I don't want to link it up with my site in any way, as I already have another blog in place that's working perfectly.

    Domain name age does play a factor in how Google looks at things. Especially when it comes to building links. If you build a large number of links to a newer website you're going to see a bigger dance.

    But, if you blast thousands of links at a time to an aged domain name you'll see better results.

    Also, when it comes to Filling the blog with with duplicate style content you will be able to get away with it more. Reason being, is Google has already established the site as a worthy site.

    If you first start off a blog or site with duplicate style content, it could be detrimental to your site.

    So, you always want to start a site out with 100% fresh content, then, if you're going to use any type of duplicate style content do it after a couple months.

    So, those are just a few benefits I see right out of the gate

      can someone tell me when you talk about a age domain ...how old is a age domain 1 year 2 year 3 years?

      and if the age domain doesnt have much good content ..will the domain be just as relavnts?

        pretty sure the domain needs to have had content on it for Google to take favor in it regarding aging, you can't just buy a 10 year old domain that no one every did anything with and expect Google to love you

    Buy it and make him sign a non-compete. I think you could use it to squeeze some page rank out of and since its in the same niche the backlinks from it will carry more weight. I have always thought of buying my competitors out.

    Does the site have any rankings for keywords? If not $500 is expensive to pay for a PR3 backlink. If it has existing rankings I would buy it - you could transfer the link juice to your site by doing a 301 redirect or dominate the niche by having more than one website in the top 10.

    it is pretty good if you could afford to buy that sites as far as you have two sites rank on the first pages, you would dominate that niche to make your big profit easily

    I'd buy the site and then pay someone to build links from the new site to yours. I mean a link in every single page. So for the keywords it does rank for that yours don't there will be a nice little link for MORE INFORMATION! On top of that it could boost your own SERP because you'd be getting a link from an aged PR 3 domain with relevancy!

    Just be careful, I'm not sure if this is true but I have heard you might lose some Page Rank by transferring the domain to a new account.

    Again, this is something I've only heard but you might want to look around and try and verify it.
