What Are Impressions??

Hi, I recently added adsense to my blog, I have made almost 1$....
What are impressions?:confused: Also, for some reason which I cannot understand, my adsense account shows I have like 75 impressions, while my WPD account shows 250 with my ads combined...
What the heck is the difference from? what are these impressions? What do they do?

    Impressions are people who viewed your website while those ads were up.

    So if you have 1000 impressions and 1 click that means 1000 people looked at your site while the ads were up, but only 1 of them clicked on an ad.

      Not quite. 1000 people would be 1000 unique visitors. One impression doesn't necessarily equate to one visitor. One unique visitor could view five pages on your site, hit refresh twice on one page and then use the back button to get back to the search engine. That might equal something like twelve impressions.

      Also, different stats measure things differently. Something like Awstats will track things like web-bots and count them as an impression while Google analytics and Adsense stats will ignore them so you'll see differences.

        Is there a normal transition rate? Or I just need to be lucky?

    Impressions refers to how many pages of your website with ads on them that were viewed by your visitors. Impression is different from clicks. 500 unique visitors may come to your website viewing 2 web pages each which may turn out to give you 1000 impressions. With this 500 visitors you may get only 100 clicks from them if your CTR is 20%.
