Do You Need a Different Amazon Tracking ID for Each Site?

Hi, I'm still in the asking-very-basic questions phase and hope that very soon I'll be able to add some value. I wonder if someone could just shed some light on my amazon strategy.
I'm in the process of setting up a review site on WP for a niche product I've researched and written an article about. I submitted the article to Ezine a few days ago so it isn't live yet, the article links to my first review site, a squidoo blog which I also set up a few days ago as well.
My squiddo address was the one I gave amazon for my tracking ID to get my links. Now because I know that squidoo doesn't rank as well as WP, I've copied and pasted my keyword laden ezine article and used it as my blog post for my new WP site, I'm trying to replace my keywords with my amazon link but it simple wont work...just alotta coding's coming up. I've just copied and pasted the article onto my squidoo page and I'm able to replace the keyword with links.
Do amazon want you to use a different tracking ID for each site or blog? Does the link not configure somehow because they don't recognise the WP site.
Does anybody even know what I'm trying to say!
Many Thanks in advance

not really. tracking is just for your personal usage i believe. i have 4 sites set up, each with different tracking ID just so i know where the clicks are coming from, but i dont think it's again amazon terms and conditions.

    • You don't have to, but I prefer to since I have quite a number of sites.
If you are getting something like 1,000 + clicks a month, you are going to want to see where they are coming from. This tells you which sites are working and which ones aren't. I create a different ID for each of my sites. That way I know where my clicks are coming from.

alternatively, could I do it all on my squiddo page, where there's no problem linking to amazon, then copy and paste to WP. Ah, the reason I'm even asking this is because I can't seem to select 'visual' instead of 'html' in wordpress. It wont work, I don't know why.
