Let me get straight to the point.

I'm also clueless, and not even a Wordpress user, but I've looked into this a little bit before, and if you do a Google search for "Wordpress sales page template" you'll find loads of information and products with which you can do this - including even some free ones. (And I think YouTube might be a reasonable place to look, too, actually: there are certainly a lot of "Wordpress tutorial videos" there).

Create your sales page as a page not a post.

Then set your homepage to staic and select that page.

My free PSD logs can be downloaded at PSD Bum. Enjoy!

This. You just create a page and you can even use the full page template to eliminate the sidebar. Then make that page static by going into
Settings > Reading > and choose the settings shown below

There are loads of different ways,

You can use the standard 2010 theme and just change the template to (one column no sidebar).

Or you can up load a template and alter that, it's a little more fiddly, but gives a much better result. If you want a step by step pdf guide on how to change a template to look like the one on this link then PM me and I'll send it over. Warrior

There are also plugins like the one being sold in the WSO form Tracey Meagher ***Wordpress Plugin*** Create Sales Pages in 5 mins!. Works With **ALL **Themes I have not personly used it. So I cannot say how easy / hard it is to use or even how good it is. But in the video it looks straight forward enough.

    Hope this helps

The easiest way to do it in my opinion would be to use a WP sales theme such as OptimizePress, WP Sales Engine or Digi Launch Pad, but obviously you'll have to purchase them first.

They can be used over and over again on different sites though, and they really make life much easier for you. If you're treating your IM as a real business and are taking the long-term approach to it, getting one of these would be a no-brainer in my opinion.

Optimize Press is the best thing I've ever bought. I love it more than Maket Samurai. Don't even think about it, just get it. It rules.

Dont think thats fair to say. Looks like most suggestions work but it depends on your skill level to which one you would do.

Personally I would make a static homepage and design my own. But some people might need a plugin and some might need a template.

So you cant really say no one has a clue.

I think Trinidad was trying to be funny, his own site in his signature is a bit of a mess

I use Impact Page Builder, but I'm sure there are many different options available.

You could also use WordPress › Page Links To « WordPress Plugins if you wanted a different static home page in addition to your sales page.

A lot of people use this to create a sales letter on their Wordpress powered sites:

Impact Page Builder | Ultimate Wordpress Page Template Building Plugin

Trinidad has already mentioned this, but above is the link if you want to check it out.

Here is an example of it at work...

Yes it is, it isn't my site though ... I'm not in the "how to sell hot dogs" niche.

Has anyone ever come across a theme that allows a different template (or even skin) to be selected for each Page you create in WP?

Ideally I would have the following site structure...

1.Main Page: - Static Page with Opt-in Squeeze offer www.mydomain.com

      2. Secondary Pages: - Sales pages off of the same domain www.mydomain.com/product1/
      www.mydomain.com/product2/

      3. Dynamic blog on the same domain - www.mydomain.com/blog/

If this is all one WP blog install on the domain www.mydomain.com - having the ability to create static pages under the same theme but with different layout (ex. single table, no columns, specific header, etc..) and have another layout for the blog

Does anyone know of a theme that supports mixed templates like this?

Impact Page Builder will do all of this - you decide how you want each page to look, if you want. Or a group of pages can have a similar look & feel too.

I vote for OptimizePress, like said above: It's the best thing ever and provides different tested to convert templates that you can customize a lot if you want too. The support is also great from the team behind OptimizePress.
