Where to start WITH a budget?

I'm fairly new to Internet Marketing (I've made $138 selling ringtones lol) and my goal was to create a niche blog and do article marketing and slowly but surely build my list and then market affiliate products to them. But I'm having second thoughts after reading a few threads where people have mentioned having a budget to start. I have a substantial amount of money to begin my IM career with and was wondering what path you would recommend me take when I have a good sized budget. Should I stick with the path I've been thinking about since I am still new or is there a better reward if I take some of this money and build my business a different way. Open to all suggestions, thanks alot.

With a substantial amount of money to start, you would
be very tempted to buy into systems that promises you
shortcuts to success. There's really no need to spend much
money except on domain and hosting. That is assuming you
already have some idea on how to get traffic to your website
(build backlinks yourself, hire a SEO team, PPC or whatnot).

Your idea definitely looks like a plan to me. Would suggest you
execute it and give it maybe 1-2 months to see the results, if
you've made zero sales , or less than 10 opt ins by then, come
back again to ask the gurus here to review your site for you.

    Good luck!

Honestly if you have capital and are willing to make it work for you, your chance of success increases exponentially. However the one thing that you need to do right now is get really clear on what business model you want to follow. Once you have a clear picture and decision on the business model you want to follow do buy some relevant training. Obviously you want to do research and make sure your buying something worth buying. But a good course or training program can shave lots of time and mistakes on your road to making a profit.

Thanks a lot for the answers! I am in the process of figuring out the EXACT route I am going to take with IM. I am trying to start up relatively soon because for the next few months I have all the time in the world (unemployment insurance) and money to invest (savings). I know it takes time to build a business online but I also know you can speed up the process if you have capital to invest already.

I say make a niche blog promoting the ringtones you sell, you can still build a list in this market as well. Throw in your article marketing and your sure to make more money.

Why build a list in the ringtone industry? Because new hot songs come out nearly every day! How powerful would it be to send an email to 5,000 people when the new Lil wayne ringtone drops? Cha Ching!

Then, after you have more success with that you can rinse and repeat in the IM niche and write and ebook detailing how you made your money in the ringtone niche and start list building all over again . . . Then rinse and repeat . . .

    Good Luck

You know I've never really thought of building a list around the ringtone market, what a great idea! The only thing I think would be a problem though is how would you go about writing articles about ringtones? There's not much to ringtones, it's kind of a narrow subject. Do you have any ideas on that subject? Thanks alot for the response !

Where to spend your startup money really depends on what your end goal is. You can build a list very quickly with AdWords advertising, but you would want to do some research to figure out the best ways to go about this. One way may cost you $3 a signup, while another way only 18 cents.

This is also true, I'll have to look into this. My sales from before with ringtones were just from posting new songs on youtube with a link to my affiliate website.
