Is anyone doing this? (re: Affiliate disclaimers)...

Note: I am NOT a lawyer -- so I am NOT dispensing legal advice! This is an idea I had, so I'm posting it here merely as INFO, not advice!

I'm just wondering if anyone is doing this already... Here's the idea...

Why not weave into one's Affiliate Disclaimer these two additional "angles"...

1) "Using our service is 100% FREE to you, the consumer." Whether you buy via our recommendations, or not, the products we offer or recommend do not cost you, the consumer, one penny more (than if you were to purchase them "on your own").

2) When you purchase, you are buying the product DIRECTLY through the vendor.

SO how DO we make our money? [then you go on to explain that you DO receive commissions if they purchase through your links, etc.] ALWAYS EMPHASIZING that THE VENDOR pays the commission, not the customer/consumer -- that the consumer pays NOTHING extra!

Anyhow -- just a thought on how to put a more positive spin on the whole notification.

Cheers.

That sounds like a great idea TW.

I Have been wondering about this myself.
I have seen something very similar on another site by a warrior here, I think it may have been Alexa Smith? who is a well respected warrior.

So I assume it must be a good idea to do so.

I'm not subject to FTC regulations, I think, being in the UK and having my sites hosted in Europe ... and am also not a lawyer, but I do put a disclosure on all my sites because (a) I want to, and (b) I think it actually increases my conversion-rates.

I just write my own, of which this is an example: I'm now proud to be an affiliate for <product-name here>, and that means that if you buy it through a link on this page, I'll earn a commission (without you paying a penny more, of course!) which is money I spend, for example, on hosting and maintaining my websites.

(If you'll excuse a "self-indulgence" I'm just going to mention that the last time this subject came up, many people contacted me by private message pointing out - all of them entirely wrongly - that I'd "given away my niches" because they'd done searches for this wording and found several pen-name affiliate-sites which they mistakenly assumed to be mine. It's come to my attention that this wording has been copied by several people - which is absolutely fine, of course ... but anywhere you find exactly this other than the one site shown in my sig-file isn't one of mine: the above is simply one example and my others are differently worded! ).
