Aweber List Questions

I am just setting up my first list on Aweber. To start my main list I plan to give away a free report I have created.

My question is, I want to sell an ebook that I have resell rights for on another section of my site. How do I capture the names and email of those that purchase? I have not sold an ebook on my site yet, so I am unsure of the steps. I plan to use Paypal so if the purchase is made there what is the best way to get those names into my main aweber list? I don't want to miss out on users that purchase directly from my sale page, but aren't on my main list.

Thanks,
Eric

Paypal link > buyer purchases > paypal redirects them to your aweber form > they subscribe > go to download page > downloads the product.

    (Later they confirms the subscription)

This is the simple method to get their names/emails into awaeber. But let them know that they are actually entering into your opt-in list and unsubscribe any time.

Good idea, but i would think sending an email to your aweber account via another service (ie paypal in this case) Aweber do not like this?

as the subscriber is comming in by another method/ from an alternative source than a squeeze page?-

That link is directly from Aweber's Knowledge Base !!!
I doubt they'd have a problem with what THEY suggest...

Thanks radhika and Michael, the steps and link help quite a bit. Just curious what technique you recommend for delivering the actual ebook. Should I use some sort of service, or place the ebook into a password protected directory on my site and provide that login info in an email after purchase?

Don't send the ebook in email. Try searching in Google for 'free paypal cart'. You will get few. Try using one of those to protect the file rather than simple download link. (I am not quite sure which free paypal cart goes with aweber)

Unless the buyer goes thru the purchase process, the link won't be delivered.

To deliver the product you could use DL guard or e-junkie.com that way your product can't be passed around or abused by others giving it to their friends to download for free.

DL guard and e-junkie give the customer a certain amount of time to download their product or a certain number of times they can download it, after that the link is no longer active then if they want access to their product after that point, they have to contact you.

I use links to download pages that get ebooks to my customers and subscribers. Some are for free ebooks, some are purchased. Most people feel the need to protect their download pages, but so far I've had few problems with improper downloads. Actually, if someone wants to share the ebook they purchase from you, all they need do is send the ebook itself as an attachment to an email.

Just today I noticed someone had one of my ebooks but didn't purchase it. I found out because he purchased from two affiliate links in the ebook. So I actually made money from the "theft."

Recently I purchased an ebook from a warrior who used e-junkie, and was pretty peeved when e-junkie informed me I had surpassed my download limit, before I actually got a copy! If you do use e-junkie please allow more than 2 downloads per customer because even a click that gets no response from your computer is counted as a download.
