Blogging - How do you create new, interesting posts?

Hi everyone,

I recently started a blog on website hosting and I am struggling to find the motivation and material to write decent, useful posts.

How do you Warriors find interesting topics to write about and get your blogs going?

Melissa. You can do a Google search for keywords relevant to your niche and take a look at the most popular blogs. You can also look at the Google wonderwheel to find alternate keyword ideas. You can also do a search in Digg and Yahoo Buzz to see the articles or stories that are popular.

I just watched part of a cool video training on article marketing about finding new ideas to write about.

Take your main idea, in this case web hosting, and think about other things that apply to the topic...
Why do people use web hosts?
what's the benefit of having your own web host?
Why did YOU get a web host?
How to get a good host?
How not to get ripped off by cheap hosting companies?

Look up your keyword on Yahoo answers, see what people are asking questions about. I know that when I was trying to find a web host I had a lot of questions about it.

The key to great content is writing stuff that people actually want to read.

But most importantly...WHY are you blogging about web hosting? What is your content driving a potential visitor to do? Sign up for your free report? Buy hosting directly?

Don't try to get traffic just for the sake of traffic, be sure to have a goal of what you want those people to do as a result of them seeing your content.

It's not even interesting to read, let alone write.
I know what you mean, its not easy and I am trying to make it interesting - that is a mission all on its own

Go here: Keyword Questions – Keyword Research Tool

Type in your main keyword first and see what actual searchers are looking for. I just typed in "web hosting" and there were 100 searches listed. Not all lend themselves to articles/posts but quite a few do.

Then type in your secondary keywords and see what other searches are coming up.

That should give you a ton of topics that you already know people are looking for.

I know this is probably not the answer you're looking for but so be it.

The key is to blog about a niche that you have a genuine interest in.

Since reading 'Crush It' by Gary Vaynerchuk all of the websites that I have created have been revolving around my hobbies / interests. Since then I've never had any problem blogging.

Most people who set up websites do with purely with monetization in mind. The problem is that you will reach a crossroads where you can't update the site because you're either out of ideas or sick and tired of it.

I do things the other way around now. I create sites that I know I will be able to update indefinitely and worry about monetization later. After all, there are a million ways to monetize a website. You just have to think outside of the box.

Good suggestions thank you - I am going to sit down and try write 10 posts or so and then schedule them because at the moment I have been writing one by one.

My goal is to get hosting sign ups to the company that I am promoting via the blog, but maybe a free report is a good idea, it would be another post at least

Gosh - a blog on website hosting. Where are you heading with this one? There may well be a shortage of things you can keep saying over time about website hosting, but I would love to be shouted down!!

    Melissa,

I would also set up a google Alert with "Web Hosting" as the topic so that when anything newsworthy happens you get an email with a link about it. I've set up alerts on various topics and every day I get emails with as few as one or as many as 10 interesting items.

Read the news, comment on it, instant post.

at the moment just think of the things you want to write and publish. So that your blog is updated regularly. And them the next step you gonna do is try to establish and choose a good niche that in your part first for you. Try choosing properly so that you won't have a hard time dealing with it.

        Hi Melissa,

To write interesting posts you can:

        - open your blog post with a question that creates curiosity and makes your reader thinking.

        - Produce a mental image in the reader's mind. This is extremely powerful.

        - Use analogies and metaphors

        - People love lists,so you can include bullet point lists!

        - Make sentences short and to the point.

        - Don't write too much, what i mean is give your readers maximum amount of information with the least amount of words.

        All the best,
        Devid
