10 Ways to Make Money Without Starting a Business

This is for you if you DON'T want a business
but you DO want MORE MONEY right now.

This post could lead you to an Internet Marketing business, but it doesn't have to, could just be cash in your pocket now.

Want more money? Don't want a business? Read on.

Each one of these could be (and is for some) a business. However, all are one-off, stand alone ways to make money whenever you want to.

The 10 ways are:

1. Grow something.
2. Build something.
3. Teach something.
4. Create something.
5. Clean something.
6. Write something.
7. Do something.
8. Supply something.
9. Connect someone to someone else.
10. Sell something.

OK, there you go. Go forth and make some money.

What? You want some details? Some examples?

Alrighty then, here you go:

ONE. Grow something. Marijuana perhaps? Well, maybe in Calif with a license in hand, otherwise it becomes a HIGH RISK (albeit high reward) money maker. NOOOO, let's not mess with Weed...better things to grow, in my opinion.

Mike McGroarty has made tens of thousands of dollars selling small plants in his driveway. He grew these plants in his small back yard. OH, Mike also has mastered IM, has had a continuously successful site online for a decade now. Use google, you'll find him. He is one of the REAL Deals you could learn a lot from in your IM efforts.

My Uncle Frank Yoder had a fruit and vegetable stand on Swamp Rd. in Hartville, OH and, although he grew much of his stuff, he also bought other items wholesale. Hey, you got a FARMER'S MARKET in your area? All you need is a van or truck and a source of wholesale fruits and vegetables. OR, a backyard to grow your own. May not get “rich” like Ol Unc Frank, the dumb ol dirt farmer, but...people gotta eat and farmer's markets are hot right now...go ahead, cash in.

I know a guy here in S. FL who has several local growers producing a specialty type of Bonsai tree, and he acts as a wholesaler to those marketers who want to sell this plant. He has a TOLL POSITION between the Demand for the product and the Supply. He doesn't actually grow anything, nor does he ship it, he is an absentee owner but has CONTROL of the product (there is a lesson here for a few of you savvy marketers).

The smallest of back yards can produce thousands in income, Mike McGroarty is proof of that. If you have a green thumb, then you may want to try your hand at Growing some dough...and you could turn it into a full time business too.

TWO, build something.

Next to Preston School on Tallmadge Rd. in Cuyahoga Falls, OH lived a man who for over 25 years sold custom built DOG HOUSES and made a decent side line income from this. Take a look at U-bild It and see hundreds of plans for projects. There are many people who would buy one of these projects already built. Backyard swings, bird houses, porch swings, wishing wells, benches and bunk beds are a few of the staples which have been selling for over a hundred years.

OR, you could sell plans (what I call HOTSHEETS) to the millions of do-it-yourselfers and craftsmen out there. Build it, and they will buy. Even today, custom hand made stuff is greatly appreciated and highly valued. The Amish of Hartville have one of the largest indoor flea markets in the world, and you'll see scores of finished woodwork which sells day after day and has for years.

If you have handyman skills, if you wanted too, you could find customers almost daily who would put your skills and talents to work. One piece of advice for anyone working inside or on someone's home, get some liability insurance (consult your agent) and protect yourself in this litigious society we live in...hey, the dumbAzz woman who fell into a fountain while texting has retained a lawyer.

Anyhow, there is a market for custom built products. The 20 hours a week you are wasting on your online marketing efforts might work better for you if you built something.

THREE, teach something.

I've taught golf for over 25 years and at one time had one of the largest rosters of golf students in the country. Even in retirement I still get a chance to teach a few hours a week and for doing something so fun too. Over my lifetime I've taught: driving (for SEARS EZ Method), golf, cooking, computer and software apps, training, marketing, copywriting and a whole bunch of other stuff too.

Teaching what you know is still one of the fastest and easiest ways to pick up some extra cash. And today, with Craigslist and Internet forums, it is so much easier than it was back in the day before the Internet. Check your local craigslist to see what sort of classes are being offered in your neck of the woods. Almost everyone reading this could probably teach a class on Internet Marketing to the newbs in your area, you know far more than they know.

Don't underestimate your knowledge of how to do something...because, there might be a good market of hungry students thirsting for that knowledge and willing to pay to get it. Why not YOU?

FOUR, create something.

My friend Phyllis made wire jewelry, which was beautiful and in demand. She created customized jewelry for people, her “marketing hook” was a FREE color evaluation (she took classes and had a good eye for what people's right colors were). I was skeptical at first, but I saw some “Winters” transformed into much more attractive people by simply changing their colors and their jewelry...it was almost magical to see.

Can you create something? I create recipes. Of course I've had training in this, but more recently, with my diabetes out of control, I had to self educate myself on certain things that could help me...and I was able to create some great recipes (especially proud of my muffin and granola recipes) for other people who are fighting this dastardly disease.

Create SOLUTIONS to other people's problems and you'll not have to worry about SEO and all that stuff, people will beat a path to your door and they come with CASH in their hands too.

Put your creative thinking caps on and CREATE something of beauty and/or value for someone.

FIVE, clean something.

Windows always need cleaning. Gutters. Houses. Boats. Cars. Offices.

I cleaned and waxed cars many years ago. I had one of the first MOBILE car detailing services and sent postcards to doctors and dentists offering to take care of their 'babies' at their offices, so they could keep an eye on me while I detailed their cars. 100 postcards gave me all the business I could handle and it was a very lucrative cash maker too.

My friend Kathy lost her job and knew unemployment was going to run out, so she started her own house cleaning service and is about to turn it into a full time business. Even in this recession, many people would rather pay to have it done than to do it themselves. Never forget that for millions of Americans, TIME IS more valuable than money.

There are specialty type cleaners too, ducts, fryers, commercial cleaners...but stick with what is dirty in your neighborhood, do a good job cleaning it and collect the cash. Clean computers, and clean off the computer hard drives. Not rocket science, but can be a source of cash.

SIX, write something.

I consider myself to be a hack writer and without the great skills of very cheap proofreaders and editors, I'd probably wouldn't even write...that being said, I've made a decent income from my humble writing skills in a variety of ways.

Heck, my resume writing business was pulling in $1,000.00 a day, and that was two decades ago and I wasn't even the best resume writer in TOWN, let alone the country. But I did know how to market.

I've also been hired to Ghost Write articles, stories and have had the good fortune to have been hired by some big time marketing companies to write for their newsletters, house organs and advertising departments. Even a hack who keeps at it can make some moolah with his words.

I've published a lottery HOTSHEET for over 15 years continuously, it has never been sold as a digital product and there was a time when people had to send a USPS Money Order to get it...today, they use PayPal. But one piece of paper stuffed in an envelope and mailed monthly has been a steady stream of cash and FUN too.
Heck, anyone can write a HOTSHEET, but if you can write, there are people right here at this forum who are willing to hire you.

So if you want some cash...WRITE BABY WRITE. (Oh, the smart person finds a hungry market to write for with the ability to pay him). But there is a never ending, EVERGREEN demand for Writers.
So, what is holding you back from getting your fair share? Only YOU, sez I.

SEVEN, do something.

Bake a cake. Do someone's hair. Fix a bicycle. Lend a hand. Pick something up. Look around and see what you can DO. What skills, experiences, talents, abilities, education or training you have and then DO something with it. Visit craigslist and look over the gigs and spend time looking at classes, and in general get a feel for what people are DOING to make some cash.

EIGHT, supply something.

Be the source. Or control the source. Supply supplies to doers. Huh? I know a guy who buys cleaning products in 55 gal barrels. He then pumps this stuff into bottles. And supplies the bottles to cleaning companies. Why don't they do it themselves? Silly, they are in the cleaning business, not the supply business. What can you supply in your area? How about TALENT? Got local artists? Musicians? Magicians? Performers? Why not supply them to other towns and areas?

To make cash from being a supplier, you have to look for DEMAND. What is in demand in your area? The demand for knowledgeable Internet Marketers is what is fueling the “off line” marketing crowd you can read about. Nothing new really, there is always a demand for more customers by small businesses, figure out how to supply demand...and you'll never be hurting for cash.

NINE, connect people.

My friend Jim Straw calls it “Finders Fees” and I've been fortunate to use Jim's strategy on many occassions to make a deal between two people. This is a rolodex money machine, just match people up, those seeking something to those looking for something. It is this concept which has made eHarmony and toomanyfish and other “hook up” sites so popular. In business, a person might be looking for a back hoe, and another might be selling one...get in between of people and broker deals.

Start by making a list of everyone you know and then play “Kevin Bacon” with them, how many people do they know and so on. Chances are you are sitting on some easy cash just by knowing someone who knows someone. How can you “hook up” people with wants and those with the solutions/products/services which sastisfy these waants in your area?

TEN. SELL SOMETHING.

Well, duh. I've been buying and selling “stuff” for 41 years, ever since I bought a Minolta SRT 101 camera from a sailor shipping out in Honolulu for 50 bux and turned around the same day and sold it for 200, I've been hooked on buying and selling chattel (personal property). In fact, I've written the book on it through my various chatteling reports. Today, tune into American Pickers, Pawn Stars, Auction House or shows on collectibles and you will see that buying and selling personal property is a multi billion dollar activity (in some cases a business, but is selling your bicycle on the front lawn a business?) that only gets better for some of us in a recession.

Today, there is an opportunity to make hundreds and even thousands of dollars every single day, and that is just with craigslist and ebay, let alone the local publications and weekly circulars that are jam packed with classificd ads of people selling their stuff...again,

not rocket science...buy cheap over there, sell for higher over here. Pretty simple stuff really.

It takes effort, but the USA is a nation with more stuff than places to keep it...look at the huge “store you stuff here” businesses that have sprung up the last decade. Attics, basements, garages, storage sheds, storage units are full of stuff. Simply find out what people are buying (I use ebay for this) and buy it for less and then sell it. Again, not rocket surgery or brain science.

So there you go. Ten tested and proven ways to make money without starting a business. Pick and choose ones which suit you and get started TODAY with realistic and doable money making activity.

OH, and all of these have been and can be converted to ONLINE or Internet Marketing type money makers too. It is a good way to get cash to build up your IM “business” if you choose to do so.

PS. Any one of these could be a business which leads you to financial freedom too.

Wow awesome information! I think any of these things like you said could be made into a business if you wanted to. You have given me some more ideas and now my brain is rockin! Thanks for all of that!

I mean it's all common sense but I think we all get caught up in not seeing the simple stuff sometimes. Thanks for getting me thinking again!

      Good lesson about "growing" things...

Harry and David Pears. Great marketing and copywriting lessons to be culled. I would think the Strawberry City might have a similar story within...

Probably find a few successful growers who would tell you their story...how about a complete home garden strawberry growing kit? how to make jam? jellies? Strawberry recipes? Lots of good ideas in your hometown...read Acres of Diamonds by Conwell.

Quick search of craigslist, I see much undervalued chattel in your neck of the woods...money just laying around.

Buy in Everett sell in Smokey Point.

Thanks for your time and attention reading the post.

I remember the night very clearly. She said, "I'm thinking about having sex tonight."

I replied, "I'd prefer we DO it rather than you just thinking about it."

"Oh," she cooed, " I wasn't thinking about having it with you."

And now you know why she's my EX. Rim shot...badda boom.

Well, you could have them write a HIGH TIMES NEWSLETTER, only to be read when you are stoned out of your mind...or while high and watching SOAP on DVD.

Hire Californian writers who have been prescribed MJ, and then sell it at the MJ pharmacies...

Sounds like your wife's friends and my EX's friends run in the same crowd.

Fortnum and Mason in the UK got their start by buying the remains of burnt candles from the Royal Palace, melting them, then making and selling new candles from the left-overs.

In 1705 Hugh Mason had a small shop in St James’s Market and a spare room in his house. The Fortnum family had come to London from Oxford as high-class builders in the wake of the Great Fire, helping to establish the St James’s and Mayfair areas as the most fashionable in London. William climbed another rung by taking a post as footman in Queen Anne’s household - and the room at Mr. Mason’s.

The Royal Family’s insistence on having new candles every night meant a lot of half-used wax for an enterprising footman to sell on at a profit – so while the Queen’s wages paid the rent, William’s enlightened sideline melted down into enough to start a respectable business. The rest, as they say, is grocery.
I made my living from 1997 to mid 2009 casting replica plaster figurines and selling them on eBay. Basically a box of plaster costs $1.99. The figurines sold for between $50 and $100.00 each. I got four figurines out of each box.

Alas, eBay is going somewhere fast in a handbasket, so I'm on to other things now - things that don't require painting, packing or shipping!

I assure you there would be a market for a report on what you did, even at the lowest price of 50 bux, getting that from 1.99 of material (I'm sure it was time intensive for the painting) but still, that's a pretty decent profit.

"How to Create Your Own Figurines" and back it up with custom made molds...who knows, you might make as much selling the HOW TO as you did the products.

I find it interesting, do you still have any for sale on ebay, if so, feel free to send me an email to the site... gjabiz@yahoo.com I'm a sucker for figurines.

      Shane,

      Truth. How refreshing.

Now for a bit of OVERVIEW. I'm one of many, perhaps scores, maybe dozens and dozens or even THOUSANDS of people WHO make money selling "tools to the miners" so to speak.

This references an old saw which sez those that got rich during the gold rush were the ones selling shovels, picks and tools to the miners.

My lottery hotsheets and my "lucky charms" have an evergreen a market as it gets.

Today, gov'ts all over the world use lotteries to make income. Most of our states have lotteries which they tout as money for the schools...whatever.

I know this. You can't win if you don't buy a ticket. Truth. HOWEVER, you can win by participating in the

NICHE of lottery players (a sub niche of gamblers)...

And there are tons of PRODUCTS (MANY WRITTEN) which are marketed to the:

      Poker players
      Casino visitors
      Horse and dog race players
      lottery players
      bingo players
sports gambling (Pittsburgh or Green Bay)

in fact, sports HOTSHEETS, especially college football and pro football bet slips are an estimated billion dollar a year "business" which doesn't get taxed...which is why you see these gambling places shut down.

In my original post, I pointed out ways to make money without starting a business...and although I don't include gambling as one of those, you'd find plenty of people who do...

especially the small press publishers (like myself) who just LOVE the sanctioned gambling rampant throughout the world.

But be it gambling, weight loss, exercise, appearance, ego, or political markets, it is still true today...you don't win unless you play...

or unless you are selling TOOLS to the players.

    Great post!

Personally, I'm FINALLY getting more into the "create" side of things then the "sell" side of things.

In other words, I've realized that although affiliate marketing is great, its easier to be profitable and provide great value if you create your own products.

      ACQUISTION.

      Young Millionaire,

      Some advice; consider this...

start to think less of creation and selling and put your attention on CONTROL.

See, you don't have to create a product to control it. You can simply ACQUIRE an existing product and apply superior marketing skills to it.

This is called STORED VALUE, and there are thousands of discarded or out of date products which can be (with a metahphorical coat of paint) restored and RE distributed.

You can also acquire an existing TOLL POSITION to add to your portofolio of money making tricks. These can take the form of an existing business or property you could take over on payments from the profits (think land contract in real estate for an example)...

or in the form of controlling distribution, manufacturing, a patent, trademark, copyright...which is why WRITING is so attractive to many people...

specific example: if someone wants my personalized and customized hotsheet on their lottery, they have to come through my toll position to get it...not available anywhere else.

When you can offer an exclusive or a 'take away' (as Dan Kennedy might refer to it) product or service, then you have CONTROL over it...and you can then rapidly ACQUIRE as many as you want WHILE you create your own too.

Glad to hear you are expanding your thinking on the subject...hopefully, I've given you even more food for thought.

Gordon, thank you for writing this.

    Wow...

Haven't read something more inspiring and eye-opening since I found out that one can become a millionaire by making a wackjob site where you sell million pixels for $1/px.

But seriously, I've referred some people to this thread telling them this is the single best post I've ever read on this forum. And I've read a lot of them; much more than my registration date might imply.

Some of the tips above are well known, others might not be, but the way it's all written and illustrated with examples just commands you to get off your ass and take action.

The Acquisition idea seems like a great way to get started in info marketing. Will do some more research about products I can renovate and sell.

But first... I'll go read Acres of Diamonds. Had it on my hard drive for quite some time, but it was always falling behind the tons of newer books I've been getting.

    Great post!

You do not necessarily need to start a business to earn money As you have mentioned, there are a lot of ways to earn money effectively without worrying about thousands of things related to running an online based business.

And if all else fails, move to California

So, what's new since then? It's been over 3 years, the whole world and the Internet has changed...NONE of those ideas would work today.

      Well, actually, they still do.

A quick story. April of 2014, young "Rick", a warrior contacts me. He's frustrated, can't make a dime, spent lots of moolah on WSO. Can't focus.

So, I take him on for a challenge. I told him I would create a new report in 7 days, have it up for sale on June 1, sell it ONLY for 30 days. and

the ONLY advertising would be my sig file.

I hit the goal of $1,000.00 in 21 days. Took the sig file down, did a couple of updates. Used the money to test some off line projects. Rick got excited, now creating and/or acquiring Information Products to sell. He's a good student.

Currently helping a few OFF line guys who are buying and selling "stuff" on Craigslist. 12 weeks, they will be making between 400 to 1,000 bux a week after the 12 weeks.

Again. It is in the DOING.

      gjabiz

PS. Foundation, Framework, Focus. Here is an OLD report from 1997, last updated in 2007, maybe a few will find it useful today...17 years after it was written.

        gjabiz,

Wonderful thread - thank you for sharing.

It seems to me, all ten of your "ways" have something in common . . . #10.

If you create, build, clean, write, etc, it seems to me you've got to somehow get others interested in exchanging their cash for what you're offering. That implies "selling" at least to my way of thinking.

And if you are selling, there are reasons to create a business. In some localities a business license will be required if you sell over some minimum dollar threshold. If you spend money to create something there are financial and other considerations that point toward having a business. Sometimes a business structure can protect personal assets from legal liabilities.

So I guess I'm saying . . . yes you sometimes can "earn" money without creating a business, especially if the amount you generate is small. But I would hate to give anyone the impression that setting up a business can be totally avoided if you so choose (and want to be "legal.")

Again, lots of great information to think about.

Actually, I agree...about 97% of the time. Why not have a business? Lots of perks and benefits from having one.

I think the original post came from a discussion I was having with old friend Jim Straw. He related how many people contact him and just want to make money, not start a business.

I believe any of these ways could (and maybe should) lead you toward setting up a "legit" biz...

with ONE exception. Chatteling. Chattel is the legal term for personal and corporate property.

It would mean a store front, or a location or a business...and there are thousands in the field, look at American Pickers or the Storage Wars and the Pawn shops.

But for the little guy, who can make up to 1,000 bux a day under the radar, without fanfare, with very little effort, without the headaches of a business...I still believe it is the best opportunity for "just making money" there is.

But, I do agree, why not have a business? I've had several.

And there it was . . . your comment about selling:
"Without a transaction (a sale) taking place, there is no money flow. Disguise it however you want, call it marketing or whatever, but nothing happens until something gets sold."

              Steve
The transaction is what making money is ALL about, even though, it can be done without money (barter, goods exchange, tit for tat, etc.) .

I teach my students it is the starting point, as you read in BYBA.

HOW do you get THEIR money into YOUR pocket? The answer includes everything you have to do. The simple, give your quarter to the lady at the garage sale, get the book.

ONLINE, so many Warriors start out wrong, putting the dead horse in front of the cart and yelling Giddy UP Pony. And they get...nowhere.

Two parts. One is getting their money.

Two is the WHERE and WHEN.

So, you have a WHAT (for example sake) a product. Think And Reach Par. It is a book and an audio product. The TARGET is a niche of golfers, and can be broken down into several sub niches (seniors, women, etc.).

They give you the money via PayPal, they download the product. This is the TRANSACTION, but...

              Before any of this...comes...

the INTERSECTION. Exactly where and when will your promotion (your sales presentation) take place?

Knowing what takes place there, and learning how to CONTROL it and set it up for mutual benefit....and that's just about all anyone needs to know.

The TRANSACTION and the INTERSECTION it occurs at.

Giving thought to these TWO pieces of the puzzle and a smart, savvy and motivated person has the whole picture. It is a MAP to profits.

              gjabiz

PS. My story hasn't changed in 40 years, no sales, no dollars. And I'm sticking to it, (and, you don't get paid for doing nothing)!!

    gjabiz ,

Really.. it wakes me up. Thanks for sharing this great information or I could call it more to a wake call for some peoples. In my opinion the greatest were no.7 " do something" and no.10 " sell something".

They not only can lead us to money freedom but also can helps tonnes out there get what they wanted.

Do something is the magic word. Most of us want to have something, to get something, to change and we said want them badly, but do nothing. At the end, we end up with nothing change, stay at same routine, and of course stay at same money zone.

That's why I think do something is great.

Once again thanks for sharing this wake up call.

Agreed, sales is everything. I'm a programmer so I wok for companies. I'm a great programmer, i can find a job. I want a biz though and this SELLING hurdle is the problem. I can run down your list and participate at a pretty high level in nearly every single thing on the list. However, I'm not a salesperson.

I've tried teaming up with marketers/sales people to no avail.

    So, the day job continues.

Thanks for this thread Gordon, it's packed full of gold no doubt about it.

Someone could read through this thread and by taking action on 1% of it could build an entire life around it.

Dad, you are not alone. Belly to belly, face to face, salesman to prospect is one of those dreaded situations which many people avoid.

I have several students like you, so, we go the REMOTE Direct Marketing route.

A side word on selling. In the Game of Thrones TV show there was a scene last season when the King if the North was captured and told to bow before his captor, and he responded by saying freemen don't bow.

He was THREATENED with the idea all of his many thousands of his tribesmen could be killed, he said, "nonetheless, we don't bow."

Relevance? My father used to literally preach to us this "sermon":

Respect all, but fear no man, just God.

So, in selling, I used to carry this thought with me, and thought about all the ways the prospect was going to kill me. Literally, I thought this.

He could shoot me, use a knife, bow and arrow, hang me, kick me, torture me, and by the time I got done visualizing all the ways this MAN was going to hurt me, I had a big smile on my face and a giggle in my heart.

If he didn't want what I was offering, it was his loss and I'm going forward, seeking the next person who may have thought they had god like power over me, it turned out, a NO was the beginning of the relationships and some of my biggest sales resulted from the biggest A holes I first encountered.

Instead of them hurting me, I took Pop's other advice, I'd KILL EM WITH KINDNESS. Always.

Still, there were days when the thought of facing another human being drove me up the wall...therefore,

I defaulted back to REMOTE DIRECT MARKETING.

There are ways around the selling fear.

First by CHOOSING a way where you don't have to do it.

I'm currently working with a couple of computer people, who are developing and creating products which they can sell REMOTELY.

Secondly, give a good long look at the world through Today's eyes and see all the possibility, it is enormous.

Social media is about the 23rd AMAZING revolution since 1994 and the Internet.

BUT, the single most important thing is to Solve Your Problems (and fears) in the direction of your goals SPIDOG. So, if one chooses a way which means selling belly to belly, then learn how to do it in a way which suits you.

Direct in their face (but don't BOW)
      OR

      REMOTE SELLING.

      gjabiz

PS. There are so many INTERSECTIONS of starving crowds, it is pretty dang easy to find ways to make TRANSACTIONS with them...and perhaps you want to be the owner of the snow cone stand but have a pretty girl selling the sweet ice...and you still make the profits. SWEET? OH YEA!!

Thanks a million for the pep talk, I genuinely appreciate it.

I have zero fear of selling to tell you the truth. I've been told more than once I possess the gift of gab. In fact, I've sold stuff many times, just not my own. There is even a good chance I've sold a few of your products.

In all honesty, I'd rather sell information like you do. I've been coding for over 35 years of my life and I'd love to spend my days belly to belly selling stuff.

I'm reading through your stuff, I've read through at least one of your products that I can remember, maybe more.

Not sure what it is. It's not fear. I think it's that I don't want to be annoying or waste someones time. I spend so much time making sure that I have something someone wants and I shoot it down before I ever try. I guess the tools that I built were validated by the marketers I worked with so it provided me that "it's legit" factor I needed to get it done.

dad2four, I assure you, you have hidden knowledge which could quickly and easily be transformed into information which people would want and be HAPPY to pay for. Now a story...

In Summit County we had one of the first supported job programs in the country. I was a job developer and spent much of my day at Fallsview State Psychiatric hospital working with persons with mental illness, preparing to get them "job ready". I was the litmus test to their health...being that if they could handle gainful employment, they were doing great.

Anyhow, one of my clients was a former track star, his illness came on him when he went off to college...and his parents were distraught and knew if he could only find a job he could do and LIKE, it would mean everything to him.

So, I CREATED the ideal job for him...delivering FLYERS door to door, and he was paid in cash daily, and got a bonus when he exceeded his number...see, he has too much energy stored up, he needed to be outside, he still would run for pleasure and walk for hours a day, why not get paid to do it?

There is an IDEAL job for everyone and it is the one you create for yourself.

With information, I encourage you to re-read BYBA, which is posted above, and consider just a little bitty start with a HOTSHEET.

You have been at your game way too long NOT to have some value stored in your brain other's will pay you for...it is just a process to learn how to mine it.

AND, the fact you can sell, well, it is a firm foundation to get started on. Consider a simple audio program of something...computer cheats, or a simple one page HOTSHEET...

lots of good ideas in your brain...now, get them out.

      gjabiz

PS. It is a common thing I come across, the idea one doesn't have anything of value...it is overcome by getting a sale as quickly as you can.

For the newcomers who are dead set on operating in the IM market (and from my time here there are a ton of you), I'd recommend mixing two of his suggestions: clean something and write something.

People are putting out content all the time. After all, they have the "content is king" mantra stuck in their heads. Just look at some of the writing services that have been created by members here or the for hire threads in the WSO forums. There are a lot of articles, videos, podcasts and info products being put out. Their authors won't admit it; but all of these pieces leave a lot to be desired.

There's a huge opportunity here I believe. I'm going to test it out, I'd encourage others to do the same. Take a look at the content that is being put out there. They usually have a solid base, or at least a solid idea that could have been turned into a solid base if it was done better. Be the guy/girl that hashes out an incomplete idea. Be the guy/girl that takes a system that is missing pieces and fill in the blanks. Take a half-tailed sales letter full of half-truths and turn it into something that is both honest and enticing. It's possible to mix the two, believe it or not.

Once you've cleaned things up, give the content owner a taste of what you've done. Make a deal to give them their improved product for an upfront fee or a (preferred, if you have faith in the work you've done) percentage of future sales. Start making friends in the biz. Some amazing things can happen when you do.

    That's enough rambling on that.

Awesome post... a little comment and additive about #10 SELL SOMETHING

I still believe this is the fastest way to make quick cash. Especially if you don't waste your money on things that hold zero value. If you have hobbies like I do.. playing music.. and you buy nice gear, you can always sell it for most of what you paid for it.

This is exactly how I started making money online.. I would buy a poorly listed item from eBay... usually an expensive guitar pedal I wanted to record with for a weekend, then I would re-list it on eBay and do a better job of presenting it, making sure I took away all the fear of buying something from someone online, and I would make a profit. Harder to do that now with the fees, but probably can depending on the market. I also went around to salvage stores (Hudson's in the South) and bought stuff and listed on eBay and Amazon.

    Cheers

$1,000.00 a day in CASH from craigslist? Here's how:

I teach the buying and selling of chattel, personal property. Today, it is almost always (90%) done locally on craigslist.

BUY undervalued items with avg listing, SELL for a profit with Superior Advertising. BUY over there, SELL over here.

It is amazing to me how much stuff there is for sale, how easy it is to determine if it has "STORED" value (profit)

and how quickly you can sell the item the same day for profits.

NOT just the nickel and dime yard sales but, the bigger items which often have 500 dollars or more of profit built into them.

YOU have hit the nail on the head with the PROFIT hammer.

SUPERIOR ADS. Better copy. 90% of all craigslist ads fall short on the persuasion end of things...too bad for them...GREAT for me and my students.
