Squidoo Lens Newbie

so i am promoting a number of amazon product review sites I've created per guidance of a WSO that i bought a couple months ago.

i am considering implementing a squidoo lens to increase google juice and backlinks.

can i just create 1 squidoo lens per review site or do i need to do a squidoo lens for lets say "How to store produce properly" if my site is about refrigerators?

will one lens per site do or is it an on-going process?

    I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking whether one lens per review site OR one lens per review?

    Whatever ratio of sites to lenses that you choose, you'll have the most success if you are also trying to make the Squidoo lens a really good page that gets some traffic. After you create the lens, submit the RSS feed of it to at least one RSS site. If possible add some content that will continue to be updated -- either because you go and post new info on the lens or because it contains maybe an RSS feed from your other site or from a news source.

    I've got 20+ Squidoo lenses and some of them have no pagerank and others have pagerank 3. Generally the ones that are pagerank 3 also get some traffic and I make a few bucks each month from Squidoo off them.

    Generally lenses that people throw together just to put a link on them, look like crap (so you never actually get a person to follow the link) and provide much less (if any) backlink juice to your main site.

    When you say that you should submit to RSS directories or at least one. Do you have a recommendation on which directories or directory to submit to?

    you can make as many lenses as you want... You can use squidoo to get each of your pages back linked or you can also use it to create multiple lenses for a single page...

    It is a great way to add some good content and some great link juice...

    If you're promoting just your site your link should go to your home page. But I believe what you're asking is should you link to the product review itself. If that is so, it's good SEO strategy to link to the product review page within your main domain.

    Let's say you put a review for widget A on your wordpress site today. A link to your main domain...amazonwidgets.com would show that review. But if you click on the title of that post it will take you to another page...amazonwidgets.com/widget A. This is the page you want to backlink to.

    The link will have more relevance to that page than to the overall site. Internal linking strategies will help the overall site SEO.

    I hope you are adding Hubpages into the equation as well they rank even better in the serps. Best web 2.0 site in my opinion. Squidoo is not as marketer friendly in my book.

      You will hear plenty of others who have tested squidoo and hubpages and found squidoo to work better. There is no point judging one against the other. Relying on search engine placements is like building a business on the edge of a cliff. And you will have totally different results with each keyword you target - one may be easier for hubpages, another with squidoo. There is a whole lot going on that is totally out of your control.

      You should be using a whole heap of other methods to drive traffic to your lens or hubpage. The lens or hubpage getting a good ranking in the search engine should only be an added bonus. If you are wanting to get good search engine rankings then build a website - at least it can't be taken from you (without warning) at the drop of a hat.

      I think these web 2.0 sites are useful but one of the best uses of them is for testing. You can easily throw up lots of these things and see which ones start to bring you some decent traffic and money. Then you go and build your own website around that keyword(s).

        Just my opinion Will. It is just one small equation of the bigger Internet marketing puzzle. But good points and your right!

    One squidoo lens will bring one backlink to your site. you should look at other web 2.0 sites like hubpages and do ezinearticles

    Squidoo lenses might get some link juice for your pages, but to be blunt: Squidoo hates affiliate marketers (except Amazon affiliates). They delete and lock good lenses all the time for arbitrary and capricious reasons and you have no recourse.

    If you complain about one lens they have locked and want them to re-look at it--and they decide to disagree with you and still consider it spammy--they can lock all of your lenses or delete your account. It happens all the time.

    I lost close to 30 lenses I had up at Squidoo and mine were better than 97% of the swill lenses the "good doobie people" have up there. Personally, I wouldn't waste the effort--it might be all in vain.

      That's gotta suck. Was that when they had the big shake up with Google? I think Google came knocking on their door and told them to tighten things up if they wanted to stay in the game. That was when a lot of people found their lenses had been removed.

      I think, as with anything, you just have to make sure you are adding value. Use only unique content and no content that has any sales pitch in it. They also don't seem like to multiple lenses on the same topic.

    I think you should have a relevant squidoo lens for more profit...

    in other words, write about something relevant to refrigerators and make sure the keyword refrigerator is used on the squidoo lens at some point...

    i think it's more of an ongoing process. you will get some linkjuice from that one squidoo lens but it wont be enough to boost your rankings... also id suggest you use a variety of different backlinks from different sources
