Is boredom a secret weapon, here's what I think

I've been gone for a little while. I've been busy with work, and having a bad case of writer's block.

In the meantime, I've been somewhat bored. I always loathe being bored, but the more I think about it, I am convinced that it could be an ally in your business.

You see, I think that the greatest ideas come from boredom. When I get bored, my mind goes into a different world. I think of some of the wildest ideas.

What do you think about boredom, and what kind of new ideas have you come up with when it comes to boredom?

    To avoid being bored I:
-Have music playing on in the background,
-have a notepad beside me with a list of tasks so I know what I have to do.
-have a list of goals i want to acheive, so i can look at get motivated.

These help productivity too aswell as boredem.

I don;t know if boredom is much of a secret weapon for you in your business in the way you present it, to me I have to choose to be bored.

It is a secret weapon though in that your clients are bored to death. He is bored with:

The wife who has sex with them 4.8 times a month and hasn't given them a ** since his birthday.

      His boring ass job

The boring and stupid people he works with.

His boring friends who always do the same things and share the same jokes.

He's sick of his kids who never listen and don't appreciate how hard he works.

He secretly suspects even the dog doesn't give a damn anymore.

If you can show how you or your product is going to make his life more exciting and make his wife think he's a hero again, make the kids listen....

      Well you get the point.

This is very powerful positioning. It's not always the easiest thing to pull off, but when you do it's a home run.

In the IM space the best (ethical) example of this sort of positioning is probably Kern.

Well, I think sometimes it's not about being bored and find a new ideas. It's more to the time you allocate to just do no work and try to brainstorm things to get more fresh ideas for the upcoming projects.
