The "There is no 100% Original Content" Myth

I've seen several times lately in threads the following claim in talking about content:

"There is nothing 100% original."

I am going to disagree. There is an exception. (Possibly more than one, but this stuck with me.)

Your personal experiences.

I was reading a blog the other day about a man who lost his memory from a car accident. He remembers nothing before the ambulance ride from the scene of the accident.

No other person has had that exact experience before. Similar? Perhaps. But nothing exactly like that.

It is truly 100% original content.

We are all capable of writing 100% original content. How?

~ Our experiences
~ Our opinions
~ Our beliefs
~ Our challenges
~ Our successes
~ Our failures
~ Our joys
~ Our sorrows
~ Our experiments
~ Our results

And all of these things are infused with something else that is 100% original.

Our personality.

I believe that people respond when we share the above, and if you give a unique twist to what you write, you can get results.

Even using PLR - take the article and don't just rewrite it. Comment. Expound. Criticize. Praise.

Agree? Disagree?

Let's hear your thoughts.

Those who say there is no original content, are getting it confused with "there are no original ideas left in the world." Idea's and content are two completely different things.

You're going to fail. If you're afraid of failure then you do not belong in the Internet Marketing Business. Period.

While you are discussing "original content" and "myths", you might as well look at the Google Original Content Penalty announcement.

I agree as I've seen these statements of 'there is no original content, it is all replicated' and I agree with your point that there is a big difference between original content and original ideas. Sure we may take ideas from other information we read and then write it in our own words - this might not be an original idea but the writing side of it would be original content!

    Geez...

You can write your good content all day long, but I know the truth, so I'm not gonna waste my time.

Allen: When article marketing finally gasps its last dying breath, real writers can return to owning the marketplace without any competition from junior high kids who have learned how to copy-and-paste.

Then you and I and other people with our talent level will become the best known writers on the net.

Good riddance to them anyway, as they're polluting the internet with all manner of unwanted articles that don't benefit anyone.

When they say article marketing is dead, it's really true in their case as they don't write well enough to provide substantive content that delivers value and actually makes people want to read it.

I agree, Trekkie.. and even if we have had the exact same experience as someone, our past experiences will shape how we view that experience. We each have a unique voice, which is why you'll notice that if you write something yourself, things like CopyScape won't give you a false positive for copying!

Seriously, I agree with you, nothing in this world is the same, although everyone may be writing the same topic, but the way it write it's sure different and the different of it is... some people might understand the way some people write and some people needed a different way of writing to understand what it write, although at the end... the answer to the article is the same, for example... "where is the car?" or "the car, where? is the same it's just that some people will like good grammar, some will like trash...

Well the whole "there is no unique content" is somewhat true, in a way that everything has been written before. Show me an article you have written and I can show you how it is not unique. Search every 3 words in your article, and see what comes up in google? I think that is the stance. It isn't so much about your experiences not being unique, or that the content from your concept is unoriginal, they are just saying the strings of words are not original.

Search 6-8 keywords at a time, and you can eliminate false-positives for duplicate content.

When I hire ghost writers, this is how I test their honesty.

It is always possible to produce/write original, high quality content. My tip would be that your heart has to be in it. Yes, I can write about any subject, I'm a writer... but if I happen to have a real interest in the subject... my fingers just flow on the keyboard. Sometimes I just keep typing and don't even know what I'm typing, it all gets unloaded from my brain... but when I read it over, it's pretty good content.

So to quote what's been said millions of times already... if you're not passionate about the subject, you'll have problems making it in IM. Obviously that does not go for everyone... but if you're trying to write original, high quality content; it is a HUGE advantage if you actually like the topic, and have some type of interest or knowledge relating to it.
