It depends on the content and the niche of your blog. Posting content on your blog is not yet enough it is also important so syndicate the content of your blog, try social bookmarking, blog commenting, forum posting and directory submission.

Well, I feel after posting a original content with 3-4% keyword density, you will have to wait for about 48-72 hours before you will so the social bookmarking and other off-page optimization. About getting indexed, i dont think social bookmarking or any other steps are required.

If your site sucks, NEVER! I have some Blogger sites with 2 or 3 posts on that I put up for backlinking purposes a couple of years ago and they are not indexed to this day. Your one post ain't gonna get indexed in a month of Sundays...

I guess you have to make your blog seo friendly.

Like tweak the html code a bit by adding a description and keywords on it.

There is a free video tutorial on that in youtube try to search.

Then below of your blog where you can find the post atom, that's what you call the rss url feed. Click on that and submit it to pingomatic or pingoat.

Next step is to verify your blog to google webmaster tools, yahoo site explorer and bing.

That way your site will be seo friendly and index quickly.

Use a twitter account with public tweets and tweet your link with a description. It will be indexed within 24 hours.

Make sure you submit the URL to Google. Then post to it on a regular basis. You nee to start getting some links to it aswell. You can do this by searching for your niche subject then submit a link or add comment. This way you can leave a backlink to your site.

Along with 50+ other bloggers, we're doing a "10 Day Blog Profits"
challenge right now - and from past experience with a similar event,
a Blogger.com blog gets indexed within 3 days of following the
steps we do in the challenge.

Getting ranked high depends upon too many other factors, though.
In fact, the speed of indexing and seeing traffic is one reason
I suggest Blogger.com blogs for the challenge than WordPress hosted
blogs.

Just ping that blog and it will be indexed soon. Submit its feeds to different feed directories. If its not helpful then submit your page to 2-3 social bookmarking sites. If still not indexed then get a backlink from PR4+ page.
