hi
im thinking of starting a forum in an area in which i think at a later date i may be able to monetize - u have a couple of questions about forums hopefully someone with experience in this can help me or advise -

how many members would you make up to get the forum up and running? would you make them up from the get go or a couple every few weeks or so to start new topics?
how would you make sure you appear highly in google ranks ?
besides posting on other forums simular in topic would you use facebook and twitter as the main methods of advertising?
what other form of advertising would you use?

    I know for sure that forum demands much much work. You either spend days sunk in it, or let you employees sink in it, or hire some freelancers to do it. Posts, posts, replies, many fake users, fresh, useful and meaningful content, spam moderation...
    And then - SEO and other advertising.

    If you want to have a forum of your own, you have to know that it entails a lot. You have to have the time for it especially if you are looking to monetize it.

      i dont mind putting the work in if there is money to be made !! does any one know if forums are a good soursce of income or are blogs usually better

    I think building up a forum is now simple there are sites that can help you set it up. What's difficult is to get people to help you in managing the forum. You would need several members who will work with you as admin. You have to monitor the forum for spammers and people who are not following the forum rules. Best of luck!
