If you make your name be Paul, then at least you might get a link. And I might think that a link with your name in it is a lot more valuable than no link.

Besides which if you are writing a decent comment on somebody's blog, you can get actual traffic from it if other readers think you are a real perosn instead of a spammer who slipped through the cracks.

I get traffic a year later from comments I have made on a blog with my name in the anchor text part.

Thanks for the advice. With my particular sites I'm really just looking for link juice here. The nature of my niche means that I don't usually find related sites to comment on meaning the traffic I get from my comments is never really targeted enough to lead to sales.

how can you tell if you have been caught? i havent changed my comments since i bought scrapebox and i still have alot of blogs going through successfully.

If you are in the spam filter, just after you post your comment either the page hangs and you just see a white background, or it refreshes, but your comment is not there and there is no message telling you that your comment is being moderated. I have experience both of these and have done some reading up on it and it seems a common indicator that you are in their filter....still awaiting suggestions if anyone has them.

Well, regardless of if you think your comments are spam or not, somebody thinks they are, which is why you are in the situation you're in now.

Pretty much any moderated blog, if they see a link + keywords, you're going to get tagged as spam.

The golden days are over and even the slowest webmasters are starting to figure it out.

how can you tell if you have been caught? i havent changed my comments since i bought scrapebox and i still have alot of blogs going through successfully.

Are you checking the sites to make sure your comments were accepted? Scrapbox throws out a lot of false positives.

Word around the playground is you'll still get some juice for the link.

Automation is nice and I certainly abused it back in the day but there is more than one way to skin a cat.

You need to think for yourself, not rely on tools and keep a step ahead of the game.

Hmmm... what about those blogs who require membership to comment or blogs that once your first comment has been approved you're future comments aren't moderated.

Or what about building additional 2.0 sites that you can backlink on whenever you want. It's not like there is a shortage of WPMU sites looking for new members. Let's not forget the hundreds (probably thousands) of free web hosting options.

Just throwing some ideas out there for the self motivated.

You don't have to rely on automation and pissing off other webmasters to get ahead in the SEO game.

I had the same problem allthough I used my name and no keyword - and I don´t post spam comments - so there still seems to be another issue!

Will be following this thread, I would like to know if somebody has an explanation!

Yea it's a tough one. Personally I'm not really into the automation thing. I don't mind doing the work. I've had some success posting comments on blogs that are PR 4 and higher. You don't really have to post 1,000's of comments if you're going after PR's this high. 5 a day will do nicely. I'm just a little undecided now about whether to keyword the anchor text or not.

I think the possible problem with the moderator.
May not arrive to check all comments.
I'm waiting up to 15 - 20 days to allow comment on some blogs.
If the comment about the topic and contribute to the discussion link structure is not very important.

If it's a place where I comment regularly and have a bit of a relationship with the blogger, I send and email and let him or her know about the problem. Many are happy to retrieve the comment from their spam list and allow it to post.

It's possible that your ip address has been blacklisted by akismet. Then you'd automatically be rejected for anyone who uses it on their blogs. I'd check with akismet just to be sure.

People used to leave their links in a lot of places, with or without a keyworded anchor text and sitll got credit for it. Maybe not as much as a keyword anchor text, but some anyway.

I comment on a lot of differetn kinds ot blogs. Web design, shoes, people's personal blogs and I just use my name and a link to a site I am working on. There are so many opportunities in the world to get links, the nubmer of sites is growing exponentially every day.

If somebody is rejecting your comments for some reason, then you just move on. And like SockPuppet is saying, build up your own network. You don't even need to worry about how to link them together, just do it and link them how you want. Sometimes a bit of randomness helps.

'We're sorry, we cannot accept this data'
----------------------------------------------

Can't figure it out, A good valuable comment with my real name, real email address, and link pointing to hubpages

Any Ideas?

I'm just putting the link in the url field that they ask for. I am not putting any anchor text in the text field at all.

Everyone else on the page is putting a link in the url field...

And I actually tried 3 different links, tried changing the text, and it still gave that error msg. Weird!

But have your tried without a link?

It could be a site that moderates the first comment only. The mod approves your first comment and after that it's open season.

What are the dates the previous comments were left? The site may have allowed comments in the past but has closed the doors due to spam abuse.

Or, your URL could be on the bad list.
