which do you think will work best for better conversions?

offering a free report, where you are basically promoting and telling them what the main product is about, and what they will get when they buy.

or

offering free chapeters from the main product you are selling, so they will get an idea what they are getting, and if they like what they've read it will convince them to buy.

    This is just me, but not much ticks me off more than signing up on someone's squeeze page for a free something-or-other only to find out that my free something-or-other is an advertisement for the main product. I've gotten to the point that I am very hesitant to sign up for freebees because this tactic is so prevalent.

    Your signee's time is valuable to him/her. Give them something of value so that they feel better off for having downloaded it. Convince them the download is so wonderful, imagine how fantastic the paid product will be.

    Use the free download as your first opportunity to develop a relationship with your prospective customer. If you instead send them an advertisement, it's likely that they will feel that you simply took advantage of them and wasted their time.

    Giving away free report is better in my opinion!
    Just a small report giving some good information but at
    the same time promoting your high ticket product.

    If you have the writing skills try to keep the reader
    asking for more questions after they go through the
    report and why they should get more information!

    The free report is better because you can pique their interest as to what your product is about.

    Whereas, if you give a chapter of the book that just takes away the excitement and intrigue of what it is about. The free report just makes them more interested.

    the free report is more likely to be passed on, which is what you want......

    you could also include an extract from the product, but it has to have value by itself if you want it to go viral

    A free report builds credibility and allows you to tell a better story to the build up of your product. Attaching a short audio and/or video will enhance the value of the free report and give the prospect a better feel of who you are and your expertise & personality.
