Ill Admit To STEALING - Will You?

Have you ever stolen an ebook....? Digital product maybe...?

I have.... Shame on me.....

I once downloaded a weightloss ebook torrent.

I felt bad after reading it and seeing how great it was so i went and paid up... I even wrote the author an email telling him what i had done and how bad i felt and that i would offer to donate some money... He never got back to me.

I dont do it anymore and i never really did apart from that one time, i always knew it was wrong and deep down inside i knew i was only stealing from people like myself.

Im sorry.

What about YOU?

Have you ever got your grubby little hands on some software, digital download or ebook you didnt actually pay for? Cmon on now, fess up. This is the time to be honest and mend your ways, warrior.

You dont have to give every minute detail of your electronic criminal behaviour (that would be stupid) but just reply with a yay or nay and how you feel about it.

I guess what i want us all to realize; is that we are only stealing from ourselves. And it has to stop. Change comes with honesty and responsibilty.

Be the honourable person you know you are. And help the online IM community by admitting (at least to yourself) that you have crossed the line into the so called underground world of dodgyness and torrents (which actually is not so underground).

As internet marketers we all know how much energy and time go into the creation of a product, a site or a service. And to have someone steal it or share it with hundreds of friends is just not right. At the end of the day we can only control ourselves.

So congtrol yourself and be mindful of what you dowload and what you share, cos it just might happen to you one day.

Honestly

Andrei

    Shame on you!
I am going to report you to the INTERPOL!

Nobody will EVER care over something like that....
It's not your fault even. Downloading something that is publicly displayed is totally legit. It's not your problem people are offering ebooks for free download on the internet.
    Don't sweat it...

Oh? It's not your fault that you're downloading pirated products?

One warning: Advocating piracy is, on this forum at least, a free and fast ticket on the train out.

Yes, it is your fault. Nobody stuffed the digital product onto your computer. You made the choice to steal it. You might think stealing is legit, but other people don't.

I guess it's okay if everyone steals your product, right?

You know what? I don't care for the insinaution that ALL Warriors have stolen digital products.

It's nothing more than a weak justification for your own poor behavior. The "everybody else is doing it, so it's okay if I do it, too" defense doesn't fly with me.

          Just sayin'

      Thanks for the head's up.

To the OP: I have not stolen any digital products. However, I did steal a candy bar when I was about 5 years old. My mom marched me back into the store to give it back, spanked me when we got home, and sent me to my room after a solid scolding.

Laughing it off isn't cool, IMAO. It's one thing if a young child does it, it's quite another of your "partner does this all the time". I assume your partner is an adult? If so, then laughing about it here isn't helping your reputation any, IMHO.

Maybe, but I didn't read it that way. And other comments made me question that.

Anyway, I do agree that it needs to change to the degree that it exists. It is a problem, and while I don't see how your post will help, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and hope it makes a small dent in the problem.

I have probably done the same thing with digital products, especially PDF files, when doing a Google search and not noticing that the download page should be behind a shopping cart or something.

I've also picked up small items at Walmart at one end of the store, gotten distracted and put the item in my pocket, only to forget I had it and walk out.

I can honestly say, though, that I've never willfully stolen someone's product, digital or otherwise, without extreme extenuating circumstances. Even then, I've always made amends as best I could...

Paul beat me to it, but REALLY? Are you kidding?

So, if you walk by a store and there's a TV in the window, it's publically displayed, so it's OK to pick it up?

Have you personally produced a digital product? According to your uh, "logic" above, you wouldn't mind having the entire world download your digital products free instead of buying them, right?

Try being on the losing end of that equation sometime, and I think you may consider changing your opinion.

      Have a great day.

Ill Admit To STEALING - Will You?
You're not going to get an honest answer. It's like hosting a meeting and asking everybody in the room if they masturbate... you know what the real answer is but I can tell you what answer you're going to get.

Who in their right mind is going to admit to theft? Especially those who are trying to build a positive reputation or are selling products of their own.
