Need Openoffice Help With Sorting Numbers

INTERNET MARKETING

Pulling my hair out....

For some reason I have one spreadsheet that won't sort properly.
Numbers are sorted
10
11345
24
277777
367
etc.

Also in the input line the numbers show up as '754 , with an asterisk in the front.
It's gotta be some setting somewhere, but I can't find what I'm doing wrong.

Can anyone give me a hand, please?

Try formating the cells to number instead of text or general. It looks as if it is seeing those numbers as text and sorting them by first character.

Yes, it would seem that it is sorting them by text, but when I format the cells the settings are the same as for other spreadsheets I have which do not have this sorting issue. (Meaning, "numbers" and "general")
