What got you into IM? How did you find this forum?

Everybody seems to have their own very interesting story about how they got into IM.
So I'm curious...

How did you get into IM?
What was the tipping point in your life that lead you to start researching for a new way to make money?

How did you stumble upon the warrior forum?

Did anything else cool happen along the way?

I want to know.

Please share your story.

Had a friend fall off the map, then one day located him and found out he was making great money 'Online'.

That started my journey. Has been a fun one so far. Have been a reader of Warrior for a while, just starting to get into participating. This has been hands down the best resource around!

In 1999 I was a defense contractor that sat in my cubicle all day surfing the web. I was constantly reading articles about the dot com boom and realized that was where I wanted to be. I took a few trips out to California, quit my job, and the rest was history.

I was single back then and didn't have too much responsibility, so failure wasn't something that was going to have a diverse effect on others. I failed again and again. Then, things started to click. By 2005, I was married with a little girl and my IM career was on fire.

Failure is a key ingredient to success. I realize that many of you do not have the freedom to just walk away from a good job, but that doesn't mean that you can't fail part time. Find your balance and let the failures happen as they may. Just be sure to learn something from each one.

I was a serious poker player for a while. I often heard at the tables how the successful players were so lucky. You could tell them a million times over that successful players create their own luck, but it just didn't register to a person that had it ingrained into their head that they would never be successful.

The same goes for business. Get out there and start creating your own luck.

I kept hearing about making money online. And I looked at filling out surveys to get cash but that didnt work even though you can actually make money from surverys but dont expect to make thousands of dollars. I just started looking for make money online. I told myself I do not want to work for someone, since I worked one time for a stupi short piece of Shet thug.

I just looked at random google pages and found a website on how you can make money on article marketing and thats when I found out about clickbank and what it really is then accidentally discovered Adam Horwitz program on affiliate marketing and found out what is affiliate marketing and this was a few months ago. I have just started my AM journey

and the best part is that you get work for yourself, the amount of effort that you put in will show how much you make. and the best part is that you cannot get fired from this job. and it is passive income in a way

Couldn't agree more. What some call luck is simply pure skill for those who "know"...

Anyway, my story is quite plain. I need to be filthy rich so that I can invest in technology, change the face of the world and end the never ending cycle of work-to-survive thingy...

IM seems to be the best thing to start with, since it's ROI is extremely good compared to offline businesses - not to mention the fact that as a college student, I don't have thousands of dollars in my back pocket to start with.

Got into IM to make money, and create a business outside my dayjob, something that would be sustainable into the future. Found this forum through a number of internet marketers and gurus who have mentioned it and post on it.

I used to work in the direct mail business, then I moved into internet marketing.

I still use a lot of the methods I learned in direct mail, I'm a direct response marketer at heart.

I can't remember how I found the Warrior Forum, it was almost 4 years ago

I always loved computers and was on the internet every chance I got, but taking my marketing efforts online wasn't a smooth ride for me.

I fell for every single scam ever invented, one by one they all caught me, but I kept on trying. I fell for the surveys, paid to click, paid to read, dodgy MLM companies, they all took their slice and gave nothing back. Ironically, offline I was doing great, but the future was clearly online.

Eventually a woman on twitter pointed me this way, probably out of sympathy, and I decided I would learn everything I possibly could before trying again.

I joined just over a month ago. A good friend of mine and business partner (I work as an affiliate for her online store), told me about the Warrior Forum. I took her advice and joined. In this very short span of time this forum has helped me so much! I recommend the Warrior Forum whole-heartedly to any website owner.

About 6 years ago, and oddly enough video games. I realize I could make money on runescape, and well couldn't stop from there.

Ashamed to say though, I've been talking on marketing forums for three years and only recently got active here (Was on a certain blackhat site first *woops*).

Definitely helps to be 'involved' in this WF community as some of the relationships you can build here are absolutely priceless.

After purchasing an ebook a few years ago I thought about how cheap it must be to make them. I wrote a little one on high blood pressure and sold it on eBay bor $4.95 and saw sales flowing in (this is back when eBay allowed digital sales in ebook form). I got hooked and stumbled upon this site through google shortly after.

I was watching TV and a current affairs type show was on. On it they were talkign about an Aussie Website teaching you how to make money online. I figured hey if this semi-reputable news show will advertise them they must be alright.

It turns out they charged $70 a month for information that is more basic than what is available here. They also didn't really follow thorugh with their modules and left you with no direction or idea about what you should do.

Thankfully I worked out this was no good cancelled and discovered Travis Sago's Bum Marketing and eventuallly found my way here.

Two years and a bit later and I am finally starting to make money that justifies not working part time while I study.

Been lurking and soaking up a wealth of information for far longer than my join date would suggest.

The tipping point for me was this insufferable job I had as a manager several years ago. It was slowly driving me insane, and I knew I had to find a way out quickly, as I felt that I just wasn't cut out for employment at a regular job.

When I found IM, I spent practically every waking hour outside the office (and many hours while working too) learning about IM and implementing it. To make a long story short, I had started making a fairly significant amount of money from IM while still working, and because of that I put in my resignation notice after just a few months. I've never looked back since that fateful day.

I purchased Corey Rudl's course way back in 1999. Opened my eyes to direct marketing.

I went from making sites that were cool and spending hours on making a logo and an animated header to making a webpage that gets results.

All of his lessons still apply today. There really is not anything new, except the technology changes.

When I started, there were no blogs, rss, facebook like buttons, post commenting. That's just technology, but the principles of something don't change.

The principles of the golf swing of today are still the same as the golf swing of years ago even though clubs have changed.

While people try to convince you that "that's the old way and it doesn't work anymore" that's because they have a product to sell so they have a vested interest in making you believe that.

I got a spam email about a MMO product. It was cheap, so what the heck. Even though it was Forex based, it turned me on to the idea of making money online.

I started searching for other MMO products and came across one by a guru that will rename nameless during a launch. While the product was junk, it tuned me into IM. Shortly after I found the original IPK where I made my first bit of money.

From IPK, I heard of Tiffany Dow and from Tiffany Dow I heard of the Warrior Forum .

    Awesome question - Interesting replies.

I found the Warrior Forum years ago and just came in and looked around. I never really said much because I was soaking up information. I found it from Googling "internet marketing forums."

I got started in IM because I wanted to spread the word about some of the things I was doing.. movements I was creating and things of that type.

I've turned a very interested eye toward entrepreneurship over the past few years and I decided I wasn't cut out to sit in some beast of someone else's design (some crappy 9-5)

So I decided to take control of my mind, started doing things I fear and began to actually negotiate reality instead of just letting it happen.

    Great thread!

I'm on a mission to be a "nevertiree" digital nomad.

Living anywhere, as free as possible from government control, overblown and incompetent bureaucracies and onerous (waste of money!) tax regimes. Being in a position to earn money from anywhere in the world.

I found the Warrior Forum when trying to find honest reviews on all the flaky "get rich quick" proposals that flowed through my inbox.

I tried to make a sale in my offline job in telesales to a very nice lady, who just happened to mentioned she was into IM, i replied i also dabbled in IM and she asked me "why are you still working for an employer then", i replied because im not very good at it lol.

Well to cut a long story short, i left it a while and contacted her via facebook as we swapped facebook IDS in my sales call and she pointed me towards WF and still advises me today in my IM ventures and generally points me in the right direction all for free.

Just goes to show there really are some great people out there and most of them are in the WF.

I've been a helicopter pilot for 20 years. I've been fortunate not to have any major malfunction during my career but a few close calls made me think that the grim reaper might be seeking up on my. It's hat gut feeling us pilots get and learn when to say no. We lost contracts where I worked and times got tough. Realizing my mortality and maybe I've used all my cards, I began working at IM. It's been increasingly successful, fun and I've been able to pass the knowledge on to friends. Not to be dramatic but it is conceivable that IM saved my life.
