Amazon review site - One large site or many smaller niche sites?

I am writing a lot of amazon product review articles and was just wondering which route I should take. Should I go ahead and create one large site full of many reviews for all kinds of products or create many smaller niche sites in which each site would have about 5 reviews about products in the same niche (ex hand drills). Feedback appreciated Thanks again.

    It's easier to get traffic for a bunch of smaller sites, quickly.
    It's more expensive to do a bunch of smaller sites.

    It's easer to rank for keywords in the long run with just 1 site (since all the deep links you build for each product will help out your other products).
    It's cheaper just using one site.

    So depends on your goals.
    Long term use 1 site but don't expect to see instant traffic.
    Short term use multiple sites.

    I agree...Just focus on building one mini site at a time. Get each one optimized and ranked and then move on to the next site. It is much easier to build a nice collection of sites if you take the mini-site approach.

      Seeing that Amazon has millions of products in their database I advise you to build niche sites on specific categories. Let's take the electronics niche, you can have a site in that niche and review tens of products, not just 5, but the idea is to have "specialized" niche sites in order to come out as an authority in that niche (not just someone reviewing hundreds of products in tens of niches).

        You dont want to be too skinny where you chop yourself down from the knees.
        On the other hand, being too wide and a lot of opportunities escape you.

        Here is what I mean.

        I have a shower curtain site that concentrates on a particular size. I call it a level4 site as it is tightly themed thus limiting me to what I can put on there. I decided to fan out and put other sizes and curtain rings and rods on it but lost the theme in the process. It is and has been #1 for months now and gets good traffic and sales at Amazon but I am missing out on a lot more because I went really thin.

        In retrospect I should have gone what I call level3 site and made it all things shower curtain. I reckon I would have been in high cotton by now.

        It is easier to have a broader niche and narrow it down to specifics than it is to be too skinny and try to fan out. I guess the best way to describe what I mean is like this.

        level 1: "Home Accessories" niche ..... Way too broad for my liking. Attainable but a lot of grunt needed. Long term to see results
        level 2: "Bathroom Accessories" niche .... Zeroing in. I have 1 site like this that does well but....
        level 3: "Shower Curtain" niche ... IMO My favorite. Most success and dollars from this level
        level 4: "InterDesign Shower Curtain" niche ... Profitable but leaving money on the table.

        Another example of the top of my head would be.

        level 1: Health and fitness niche
        level 2: Exercise Equipment niche
        level 3: Elliptical machine niche
        level 4: Acme dft4Y3 elliptical machine niche

        I have many level 4 sites but the thing is over time they lose popularity or the model gets upgraded or... Going the level 3 route leaves you scope to continuosly keep up to date with the latest in all things elliptical.

        Keep trying and testing to find the level best suited to you.
