Can you have optin on thankyou page for Clickbank product?

If selling a product through Clickbank can you and should you use an optin box on the thank you page?

I didn't think you were allowed to have an optin where the customer has to optin before receiving the product download and yet I have purchased products that have had the optin.

Does anyone know the rules regarding this?

Also, if you are allowed to have an optin before the customer receives the download, is it a good idea or is it better to give them the option of opting in?

    Hey Shezz,
    Check with clickbank, but I though you WERE allowed. The only thing, you want to be careful that they are not taken away from the download page while they are opting in.

    Even if you are allowed, I wouldn't suggest it...

    I would definitely provide the product download link FIRST, then below/after that, provide the OPTION to opt-in...

    IMO... if I were 'required' to opt-in to a list, before I could gain access to what I just paid for, I would be pissed, and I would probably not do business with that person/biz again.

      First deliver the product then ask the customer to optin for the update for the product(optional). In 99% cases this technique works. Because no one wants to lose their product update. This is the easiest way to build your customer list without the pain.

    Are you using Aweber or GetResponse?

    If you're using GetResponse, you can actually add your customers to your mailing list automatically.

    If you're using Awber, I'd suggest displaying your signup form on your download page, and give them a really good reason to signup.

      Hi Shezz,

      It actually does require some programming, because it's done via their "API", which is basically an interface that allows scripts to talk to their system.

      I've added this functionality to DLGuard, if you're interested - basically with DLGuard, from your customer's point of view, they pay in Clickbank and are sent straight to the download page to download your product.

      Nice and easy for them, and they don't feel like they're being "held to ransom" so to speak.

      Meanwhile DLGuard has collected their details, and added them to your customer list in GetResponse.
