EZA won't let you link to a squeeze page?

I'm not going to be one of those people that goes 'oh I hate EZA, I'm never going to use them again' but I've had literally thousands of articles pointing to squeeze pages, and now it's saying that I don't have enough informative content on my page. Any one else have this problem? Any idea how to fix it? My squeeze page converts at 48%, so I'm not going to change it. Let me know if you have any ideas, thanks!

That's odd and a new one on me. Your page can say whatever it want, minus the obvious gambling, porn, etc stuff. They don't really have the right to judge your content, minus the right that they own eza. I'd say fire back an email questioning their judgment on this and move along to articles base if they keep it up

I thought I had heard they were going to start doing this several months ago. I could be wrong, though.

Anyway, they have every right to do this. Just as authors have every right to not use their service.

They often have to tread a fine line between getting a lot of people to submit articles, and getting a lot of visitors to read those articles. However, I have always been under the impression that they put THEIR visitors first, not their authors...but there's not a lot of difference in the level of caring (if that makes sense).

I think EZA generally does things right, it's up to us as marketers to adjust our strategy to keep up with any changes they make to their TOS.

      All the best,
      Michael

This has been a standing rule for a while although it can be hit or miss whether you managed to get an article approved that links to a squeeze page. I have in the past had articles declined for this reason and also had one declined that was pointing to a review site.

I have since changed my strategy and it actually works out better linking back to a site full of unique content for me. My sites rank better, traffic has increased all around and readers tend to stick around a little longer.

You might have just got a rookie editor trying to make an impression. I've got quite a few that link to squeeze pages that have nothing more than a headline and video screen that won't play and I've never had a problem.

I figured it out. My squeeze and sales pages are done it HTML and my site is built with wordpress. Somehow, all of the wordpress files from my site are gone; they (EZA) think that my whole site is just a squeeze page. So, I have to find where the heck my site went. Going to be a good day.

Anybody seen ArticlePrince's wordpress files? He left them around here somewhere. Ok!... where did you last see them? (this usually works with the car keys... the kids sometimes put them in the toybox. Have you checked in the kids toybox?)

Ha my web guy was trying to set up wordpress for another site in the same hosting account and deleted all of the wordpress files to reinstall. Awesome! Luckily, I have a plug-in that backs up my site daily, so it's ok. Just another day in paradise ;-)

Actually, except your wp-content/uploads/ folder with your own uploaded media (images, video, whatever) - there is NOTHING in the so-called 'WP files' that is not replaceable.

WP doesn't store anything in your files... your content (like posts, Pages, comments, settings) are stored in the MySQL database, not in files!

Which means, if the "clever" webguy deleted the files only - just upload them again and you are good to go.

    Hi Sean,

This is a common problem, though I haven't had it myself (I don't link to squeeze pages).

It's all fairly well documented on their blog (some time in late 2009 and/or early 2010, I think, but that's from memory and I don't promise to be right!).

They tend to announce some pretty significant things on their blog rather than in their Editorial Guidelines.

The reality of the situation, as I understand it, is that they "reserve the right" to decline articles linking to a squeeze page on the grounds that "the site linked to is inadequately informative for our readers", but they only actually exercise it when they feel that the article itself is "derivative in tone/content".

To my surprise, they were pretty open about saying so, too.

I don't remember the exact words, and it was a long time ago, but I read it as "If you write a proper, full-length article giving some new information we haven't already seen here 100 times over in the past, then we'll let your squeeze page link through unchallenged, but if we don't like the article much, we'll decline it and use the squeeze-page as an excuse". Now, I'm quite sure, if Chris Knight were here today, he'd probably object to that reading of what he wrote, tell me that that isn't what he said at all, and that he meant something completely different from that. Nevertheless, I can assure you of two things:-

    (i) That was how I read it, and ...

(ii) The reality is that they let squeeze page links through on long, higher quality articles and they challenge them on shorter articles which they think are "derivative".

"Derivative" was their word, not mine. How they decide what's "derivative" I have no idea, but I suspect that like some other EZA editorial decisions, it's somewhat inconsistent. :p

It may be, as you say, that finding "the rest of the site" will make the difference, and that that's all you need to do ... because I know enough about you to know that your articles are obviously going to be well above average! Good luck!

On our own site? BS. They can refuse the article for whatever reason since they own EZA, but saying your site is not informative enough is complete BS. I can say the spun articles they accept aren't informative enough, either and I'm not submitting to them anymore and I'm deleting all of my content from eza.

For the most part I don't have to many problems with EZA now. When I first started out, I didn't get platinum until I had submitted my 96th article, of which 5 were under 400 words. I always call them out on their BS for rejecting my articles. I think they mostly leave me alone because I'll keep going for 30-50 messages pointing out their hypocrisy. Frankly I'm surprised they haven't just deleted my account just for being a nuisance; but I always have good articles so maybe they don't care so much

Yes, I've had that problem once, and that is one of the unwritten rules, I speak about in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...-you-know.html

My squeeze page was a page on my WordPress blog. Not a stand-alone HTML.

I solved the problem by writing more content, and it didn't hurt that particular squeeze page. On the contrary.

Interesting. The Ezine articles I have had approved have a back link pointing to a wordpress squeeze page. I also have related content on other pages and posts. I didn't realize EZA loves wordpress so much.

That's funny. "Excuse me - I want to put this content on your site - I know it's not the kind of content you want on your site but you don't have the right to make that judgment"

I don't think "wordpress" has anything to do with it. EZA does not want an article to link to a page that only says "sign up here" with no other redeeming content. If your site disappears as this one did - that's the problem.

Not sure why this thread was brought up a week later, but the problem was that everything except my squeeze apge was deleted. Once it was restored, it was fine.

For those saying 'they have no right' you are wrong, end of story. It is their site, their property, and even though you are helping them by giving them content; you need them more than they need you.

If they want to reject your article because the letter 'j' is in there too much, they can. It truly amazes that everyone feels that every site should bow to them and take whatever they submit.

Ezine Articles has figured out the key to marketing: If you limit yourself to true quality content, others will link to you naturally because...

They will care about your content; who knew?
